1. Back to School Shopping - Read any book with shoes on the cover. For verification, you will need to post cover.
2. Day at the Beach - Read any book that has a beach scene or beach related items on the cover (sand bucket, beach umbrella, etc.) For verification, you will need to post cover.
3. Series, Series, Series - Read a book in a series you have already started. It cannot be a first in the series (although there should be record on your read shelf that you read others in the series.)
4. Summer Vacation - Read a book set in another country than your own. For verification, you will need to provide what country you currently live in and if not stated on GR, will need to say where the book took place.
5. What I Did On My Summer Vacation - Read a book that you are reading for another challenge (other than the Tower Team challenge.) For verification, you must state the name of the challenge. It does not need to be a NBRC challenge although that is preferred.
6. Recommendation Please - Read a book that was recommended to you. For verification, state who recommended the book. This does not need to be someone within GR or on your team but can be family members, librarians, etc.
7. Do You Know Your Team Members? - Read a book that another team member has rated 4 stars and above. This book can be read any time and does not need to be within the Tower Team challenge. For verification, state the team member, their read date and their rating.
8. Genres, Genres, Genres - Read 9 books from 9 different genres. The list includes: Romance, Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Crime, Historical, Fantasy, Young Adult, Chick-Lit, Women's Fiction, Science Fiction, Non-Fiction, New Adult, Erotica, GLBT. The genre must show up on the book's main page.
9. They're My Favorite - Read a book by your favorite author.
10. New to Me - Read a book written by a new-to-you author.

We should aim to make something pretty simple since we're short on time. We could make it about your favorite genres or easy categories like beach reads or beachy covers.
Feel free to make some suggestions, remember this is your challenge! :D

Each Team does the challenges differently. Some have people just read whatever. Others have them do one from each. Still others have them sign-up - or reserve - which categories they want, maybe doubling up on some.

Good question, Amanda. The Mods will have to discuss it (thanks for reminding me). You may get some more members, though.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.
For Banana Mania folks, I think we should do a free-for-all within the Moonstone challenge categories and skip the sign-up/reserve for this month since we're already half way through.
Well, you might want to reconsider, as those Book Advantage Points (BAP) might appeal to you.
Right now, with the Team-members and 'target goal' you currently have, you have two options:
- Start counting books from August 1st and apply 22 books to the categories you select.
- Start counting books read as of August 15th and apply 11 books to the categories you select.

I got 21 books for the whole month, but we might be doing math differently. :)
75 / 1350 = 5.5%
5.5% * 377 = 21
Banana Mania has 17 books in August so far, so I think 21 (or 22) would be more than doable for the team!

Totally makes sense and I agree. I find that the free-for-all method works better anyway, even if everyone reserves books things inevitably get shuffled around anyway!

For now I'm going to track all categories that a book qualifies for and once we get closer to the end of the challenge I will start placing books in categories. :)

We're at 36 books, not including books read by K since she hasn't accepted my friend request yet. I'm going to give it a few days before I submit just in case we get a new member again. But I think we're good to go.
Go Team! :D
Team Captains, Co-Captains and Team Members may create and submit their own challenge for Book Advantage Points.
It may be one of your previous mini-challenges, or one in the works.
Goal: 75 books total.
Duration: The challenge will last the whole month of August.
Each Team will do their own challenge that they created.
Please submit your ideas, detailing your goals and time period by July 26th for review.
We will look them all over before deciding upon the number of Book Advantage Points to be given. We may then ask you to tweak your challenge a bit to make it equal in ease or difficulty, depending on what the other Teams are doing.
HINT: Think light, easy, breezy, and FUN!
Restrictions: S.P.E.L.L. I.T. O.U.T. is limited to 24 letters.
Please Note:
In the Spell-It-Out section, for each letter read books with titles (only the first or starting word will count), series names, authors (both first or last names), character (first or last name), that begin with letters that correspond to letter of the phrase or term you choose. You may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, the, etc.)
Yes, we will allow main character (MC) names!
MC Definition: Only major characters will be allowed, or one that plays an important part. So for instance in Dead Until Dark, you may use Sookie, Bill, Sam, Eric, or Pam; but, not Arleen or the other vamps that appear only for a few scenes.
