Question about a book that lacks isbn number

You can manually add any book. ISBNs did not exist in 1955; they were implemented one to two decades later.
I've manually added many older books. It's a good idea to enter all the information you have, including Library of Congress catalog numbers, etc. identifying information. Please put that type of data in the book description field.
When you do a book/author search one of the links that shows on the search results page is manually add books.
Here's the direct URL that you get when you click on that link:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/new
You can add your book there. If it's another edition of a book already in the database it should be combined with the other editions of the book. If no other editions are present, simply rate/review it as you would any other book.
Edit: I did some searches and could not find it either but the search doesn't always work.
As you add it your book, any other books it might be pop up from underneath where you're typing the title. Please check those to make sure that none of those are your book. If they are, you the titles are links so you can click and check, and add if any are the correct book. Sometimes, no alternate books appear and then you can be reasonably sure that your book is not yet in the Goodreads database.
I'm a new Librarian and I would like to add a book titled Merry Hearts and Bold. I already ran a search and nothing came up. I actually own the book so I know it exists. It was published by D.C. Heath and Company in 1955. It is part of the Reading for Interest series. The editor is Barbara Nolen and it is illustrated by Fritz Kredel. I can not find the isbn number anywhere. Can I still add it or is there I place I can search for the isbn?
