Susan C (somersetpurplegmailcom) Twilight. I'm just getting started.

Has anyone read Pride & Prejudice & Zombies? I bought it for a June book challenge on another thread.

I really like it but some parts are just a bit disturbing in the first two books. But I love the later books just as much as the first one.

Mellady77 Stibich | 1149 comments Grrrr... the library lost it's copy of The Uglies. I just finished reading a shamefully bad adult book by P.C. Cast that I happened to love about an English Teacher who is sucked into a mythological world where she is a goddess incarnate who is married to a centaur shortly after her arrival and has to fight off a legion of vampires.

message 114: by Sharda (new)

Sharda | 558 comments ok...so i've finished the house of night, blue bloods and vampire academy series and i've gotta say..THOSE BOOKS ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Oh, and i finished the hunger games five minutes AGO.it was great! But now i'm stuck again. Anybody knows other books that go along the same, uh, mood or type of plot or whatever, as the ones above? Every single one of them had a teen girl stuck in a love triangle, by some weird coincidence (just like Twilight!!!!) and i realized that it's actually a part of the book i'm more interested in.So a little help here...what book to look for next??!??!??

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

The main plot of The Awakening is supposed to be a love triangle between two brothers and a girl. The brothers are Vampires. I'll reccomend more books to you as I find them Sharda. :)

Starting The Historian The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

The way it's written is very formal, if you don't have an expansive vocabulary and/or patience this will drive you crazy. It's not a light read. After a while my brain felt like clay, but I will persevere! Other than the things that are over my head, the story is very captivating so far, and it really delves into the old stories that led to our modern day beliefs of vampires. Also, I think that after I read this, other books will be a piece of cake :)

Hmm. I have seen that one more than once in blogs. What's it about?

message 120: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 12, 2009 12:01AM) (new)

It's about a girl whose father was a historian, that drove himself crazy over discovering the meaning behind all the vampire myths. Seeking truth, trying to prove it real. Then when he died, he left cryptic letters titled to his successor, which was his daughter. So she goes all the way to Europe to do what her father set out to do, and find the true Dracula. And why he risked his sanity to do so.

Update: I was wrong. It was about a guy that found a book with a wierd marking on it, drove himself crazy over the dracula aspect of it. Made letters to chronicle his research. Then twenty years later, when he's a professor, this other guy gets a different edition of the same book. The professor hands the student his reasearch, and passes on the torch. Twenty years, after that, the former student's daughter found the letters and is asking questions about the research. The story is told while the father is explaining it to his daughter... It's all very confusing.

message 122: by Olive (new)

Olive (dearestolive) I'm about halfway through City of Bones (part of the young adult Mortal Instruments series). It was recommended to me on the basis that I loved both the Harry Potter and Twilight series. I would say that, so far, it's got touches of both.
