Addee I just finished Graceling & was disappointed to learn that the next book Fire is a different story & has none of the original characters. I have two questions, I believe Po & Katsa are in Bitterblue, & if this is true will it make no difference to skip Fire altogether & read Bitterblue next??

you certainly can skip Fire, cause as you've mentioned it's a whole other world with different characters.
However, some unknown stuffs consisted of king Leck in Graceling were explained in Fire, and in my opinion Fire was way greater than the first book, whether in the plot as overall or the characters.

i'd recommend you to start with Fire first, but i believe no harm will fall if you began with Bitterblue first.

Tip: i read both Graceling and Fire, still have the third book to go, you might want to check a second opinion just to make sure, since i have no clue whether or not Bitterblue will be having any related events to Fire (i believe not) but no harm in asking certainty.

Fire is quite different from Graceling, and I suppose you could skip it, but I would recommend reading it. Fire is very interesting and has some details of King Leck that are good to know.

Bitterblue also does mention characters and places that are from Fire. These things may be a bit confusing if you haven't read the second book, but not so much so that it would ruin Bitterblue. I would read it, if I were you, because it really is good and--I would say-- better than Graceling. :)

Delaney Read Fire, it's a very good story and very important when you read Bitterblue

♪♫Gloria♫♪ I just skipped to Bitterblue because i can't read Fire. Apparently it has content in it that i can't read. I was just fine reading Bitterblue.

Fire does have a couple of parts that I would advise skipping past.

Delaney •Hadley||Pax• wrote: "Fire does have a couple of parts that I would advise skipping past."

Like what??

Lisa Fire has some adult content and disturbing concepts that parents may object to young readers being exposed to. It's not bad or tacky, just a little above PG13.

Delaney ah, I remember that, lol sorry that threw me cuz my friend who introduced me to this series, and I are in our 30s. but yes that makes sense. Same reason I warned my nieces mom they shouldn't read Breaking Dawn, or any of the House of night Series.

Nuran You could skip fire but fire was my favourite out of the trilogy, so you could be missing out on something you might enjoy.

Nicole D. I read Graceling then Bitterblue then Fire.Bitterblue does have some spoilers to Fire. But if that doesn't bother you could skip Fire and read it later. But I do recommend you read Fire is my favorite of the books and it really is a great story.I read Fire last because like you I wanted more Katsa and Po and wanted to see Bitterblue be queen.

Addee Thanks heaps for the recommendations guys....

I was initially a bit disappointed because I didn't realise Fire still had some connection to Graceling. I am interested to find out more about King Leck & have faith in your positive responses to Fire. I will start it today.

Thanks again, happy reading.....

Brittany Bardman I read Bitterblue and Graceling, but not Fire. I also like these handy answers. Thanks for asking the question. I will now read Fire!

Meredith You can skip fire and read butterflies just find. Some stuff will make more sense if you read fire first, but you will still get the jest of the story if you don't.

Emily Thorne You can skip fire although fire is in the end of the third book. I loved fire it was a really good book, sure there are some parts are didnt like but i find that with most books. You can skip fire if you want to but i would recommend reading it its a good book in its own right and not just part of the series.

Stéphanie Yep you can skip it.

Eleanor Rigby I actually wanted to skip fire also. I ended up reading it and actually liking it a lot. It is at least as good as Graceling (You may even like it better). It is not essential to read in order to understand Bitterblue though. I loved the characters in Fire, And the romance was sweet too. Give it a try

Becca Rose I think it's weird that EVERYONE here likes Fire so much. I didn't like it at all. I loved Graceling and I was so disappointed when I read Fire. But in my opinion I say you should read it if you want to fully understand everything that happens in Bitterblue.
BTW I loved Bitterblue too!

corina Give it a try, it can't hurt. Personally, I absolutely loved Fire, and I love Graceling and Bitterblue as well. It's an amazing series.

Kenni I'm not sure it will make a difference, but I LOVE fire!!! I actually read Fire first, and like it better than Graceling. Likewise, my best friend read Graceling first and likes it better then Fire. Don't read it expecting it to be Graceling, expect it to stand on its own. Also, you will learn a LOT about Leck and where he comes from.

Ssana Yes you can skip fire because it is a different book. But FIRE was amazing!!! You should read it 2 :)

I think that you can, but I would read it any way because it gives more understanding to both graceling and bitterblbue.

Phoenix Fire was good but you wont get confused or miss anything if you skip it

Madeleine Out of the three books I read it last, and trust me, the ending of Bitterblue is much more satisfying if you read Fire. That, and it's an excellent, cleaner, better book than Graceling (just saying, go ahead, fight me on this).

Meredith Sutton Personally Fire was my favorite book out of the Graceling series. I love Fire's attitude and how she reacts to the other characters around her. Defiantly read Fire because it also tells about the history behind King Leck.

Yassie DEFINITELY read Fire!! I loved Graceling and Fire is as amazing if not more, because it's a more mature book and more psychological than the first, I just loved its complexities~ Actually it's because of my high praises for Graceling and Fire that I got disappointed with Bitterblue... It was a good book but being a sequel I can't help but compare it with the other two... BB was just okay... We get to know what really happened and I liked how everybody finally discovered the others at the end but other than that, it's mellow in comparison, Idk how to explain but yeah... Fire and Graceling were much better...

Pamela I did and read it last. It seemed to fit better that way.

Rua Brithem I read Fire first and it is by far my favourite. I love, love, love that book.

Priya I read Graceling first, and had no problems in terms of understanding plot or character relations. However, personally, I enjoyed Fire much more than Graceling. So, it's not really necessary to read it, no, but it is worth reading.

You can skip Fire, but it explains Lek a little bit more. I was going to skip it but I didn't and i fell in love with it!

Natasha I would definitely read Fire. I loved it, but more than that, it has some details of King Leck that you really ought to know and the storyline of Fire does play a part in the last book, Bitterblue. I would definitely not skip it, because it's another wonderful story, and you may get a little confused about seemingly random plotlines in the last book. :)

Lia I read Fire first not knowing it was a series. The series still made complete sense even though I read it in the wrong order. It's great. This series has to be the best I've read. Or maybe I'm being childish saying it was my favorite. Did anyone else LOVE these books?

Lia And Fire was definitely my favorite

I certainly loved them! They're my favorite books of all time. They have pride of place on my shelf, and I find myself frequently pulling them out to read little excerpts. And then I have to summon extreme self control not to get sucked into reading the entire book. :)

Lia I'm glad someone feels the same way! I've read this series several times. I love it. Does Kristin Cashore have a p.o. box? I'd like to send her a letter
@Natasha

I don't know. But she has a website (I follow it, cause I have the biggest reader crush on her,) and it may be listed there. It's probably listed there.

Lia I am pretty sure I have been on her website. She doesn't receive feedback correct? Like she doesn't let us comment
@Natasha

Actually, you're right. Sorry. So, yeah, if it's not there, then I don't know. :(

Cameron well, i guess you could skip, but it is so good and Fire gives Leck a lot of backstory.

Cameron I honestly thought Fire was better, though.

Julia Miller Agreed!Cameron wrote: "I honestly thought Fire was better, though."
