you certainly can skip Fire, cause as you've mentioned it's a whole other world with different characters.
However, some unknown stuffs consisted of king Leck in Graceling were explained in Fire, and in my opinion Fire was way greater than the first book, whether in the plot as overall or the characters.
i'd recommend you to start with Fire first, but i believe no harm will fall if you began with Bitterblue first.
Tip: i read both Graceling and Fire, still have the third book to go, you might want to check a second opinion just to make sure, since i have no clue whether or not Bitterblue will be having any related events to Fire (i believe not) but no harm in asking certainty.

Fire is quite different from Graceling, and I suppose you could skip it, but I would recommend reading it. Fire is very interesting and has some details of King Leck that are good to know.
Bitterblue also does mention characters and places that are from Fire. These things may be a bit confusing if you haven't read the second book, but not so much so that it would ruin Bitterblue. I would read it, if I were you, because it really is good and--I would say-- better than Graceling. :)

Fire does have a couple of parts that I would advise skipping past.

Like what??

I was initially a bit disappointed because I didn't realise Fire still had some connection to Graceling. I am interested to find out more about King Leck & have faith in your positive responses to Fire. I will start it today.
Thanks again, happy reading.....

BTW I loved Bitterblue too!

I think that you can, but I would read it any way because it gives more understanding to both graceling and bitterblbue.

You can skip Fire, but it explains Lek a little bit more. I was going to skip it but I didn't and i fell in love with it!

I certainly loved them! They're my favorite books of all time. They have pride of place on my shelf, and I find myself frequently pulling them out to read little excerpts. And then I have to summon extreme self control not to get sucked into reading the entire book. :)

I don't know. But she has a website (I follow it, cause I have the biggest reader crush on her,) and it may be listed there. It's probably listed there.

Actually, you're right. Sorry. So, yeah, if it's not there, then I don't know. :(

i think Fire is the best of the trilogy
and besides reading bitterblue first would ruin fire for you"
