Todd Strader | 6 comments Secret of The Andes by Ann Nolen Clark I read it in fifth grade just found it last year. There is another one I read that same year. It had a Native American venturing from his known tribal lands to discover the source of a black knife... that's all I remember.

The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman doesn't have a Native American, but does have a boy searching for a knife. Or try anything by Joseph Bruchac- he writes lots of Native American books.

That sounded like such a great story that I've spent way too much time looking for it. Hope you come across it one day. I wasn't able to find it in my internet searches. :(

Becky (rebeccastutzmangmailcom) I love reading how people were reunited with a book that had been a comfort to them when they were young. I am a children's librarian, and so I have been trying to solve many of these missing book issues. Please check your local library because many libraries either have these books, or have access to databases and librarian knowledge to help you find them. We actually own many of the Dare Wright books, and that is what prompted me to write.

Alex Hallatt (hungrydog) "A Boat and a Bax". I don't know the author, but I loved the book and read it about a dozen times. It was about two boys who find an old rotting rowing boat, restore it and take it up the river. I can't remember any more than that, but I remember the sense of adventure it gave me.

Roger Collinson wrote Butch And Bax as well as A Boat and Bax. He also has several others listed, but I'm not positive they're by the same author.... though worldcat seems to think so:

(I had to add your book - GR's info. is incomplete.)
