message 1: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Boatright | 578 comments Was wondering how many books you guys can read at once?

message 2: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments I'm not sure about anyone else lol

For me, 4 is the max but they have to be different types of reading:
1 - 2 can be paper books
1 on my kindle
1 on my computer or as an audio

But I can't read more than 2 physical books at once.....typically

message 3: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 61 comments I usually just read one at a time because it allows me to focus on just one story line.

message 4: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Boatright | 578 comments For me I can do 2 but also they have to be different story lines :)

message 5: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments the highest number of books I've ever read at once is 6. Normally similar to Trisha, I read paperback, ebook and listen to audiobook.
But now I'm trying to read only one book at a time.

message 6: by Brianna♥ (new)

Brianna♥ (briannaforrest) | 645 comments I usually do about 5 or 6. I think the highest for me was 8 at a time. I always have at least one audiobook for the car, two or three paperbacks, and at least two ebooks on my iPad. So very similar to Trisha and Gisbelle.

message 7: by Michael (new)

Michael Thal (goodreadscommichael_thal) | 30 comments I'm reading three books at the moment.

message 8: by Becky (new)

Becky (booklovingcoffeeaddict) | 4889 comments I usually have 3 to 4 going at once. That way when soemthing bugs me in one, i have other choices, lol!

message 9: by Trinity (new)

Trinity I am usually 4 or 5. Probally 7

message 10: by Trinity (new)

Trinity But I prefer to just read maybe 1 or 2.

message 11: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Becky (Indiana) wrote: "I usually have 3 to 4 going at once. That way when soemthing bugs me in one, i have other choices, lol!"

It's always great to have a backup

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Trinity wrote: "But I prefer to just read maybe 1 or 2."

I think so too. Too many at once can mess everything up

message 13: by Trinity (new)

Trinity Yeah, sometimes I have to read a page before to remember what's going on if I keep jumping books.

message 14: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes, totally understand. It usually takes me a couple of minutes too.

message 15: by Trinity (new)

Trinity That's true, after awhile of reading one book then jumling to the next it does take me awhile to remember what happened before.

message 16: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments That's why I'm trying (so hard) to stick with one book at a time now.

message 17: by Trinity (new)

Trinity Haha same here. But there's so many books I just have to read!! Lol!!

message 18: by LemonJello (new)

LemonJello I try to stop at 2, one reading and one listening but sometimes it gets closer too 7 or 8. I've been good for the last couple months though lol

message 19: by Mochaspresso (new)

Mochaspresso | 11 comments It depends. The kindle app has made it very easy for me to jump in and out of books on a whim. Too easily, actually. It's almost as if I have developed book ADHD now. Sometimes, there are books that instantly grab me and I can't put them down. When that happens, I put everything else aside and concentrate only on that one book.

message 20: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments Usually at least 2 or 3. Sometimes 5 or 6. Book, Audio and ebook sometimes multiple on all.

Book ADHD! I love it! A new name for my condition!!!!

message 22: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 4527 comments I can usually read 3 at a time, but they have to have different plots. If I read books that have similar story lines going on I tend to get the books mixed up.

message 23: by Joelyn (new)

Joelyn I usually read 3 or 4 at a time but they have to be in different genres or else I get them confused.

message 24: by Adam (new)

Adam | 180 comments I like doing 1
My max is 2

message 25: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Adam wrote: "I like doing 1

I think this is a sensible number. Too many tends to mess up your brain :) I'm reading 2 at the moment.

message 26: by Angela (last edited Aug 15, 2013 06:30PM) (new)

Angela | 17461 comments I'm reading three right now, but it's on and off.

message 27: by Birdie (new)

Birdie (purple_feather22) | 294 comments Typically I read 1 at a time but can do 2 if one is an ebook and the other paperback.

message 28: by Sophie (new)

Sophie I usually prefer to read 1 book at a time but it depends. I like to carry around a book in my purse at all times so if I'm reading a book that's too big or too heavy I'll pick another one for that. If I'm also reading an ebook, I'll do 3.

Another situation is if I'm reading something that's not holding my interest or is a bit difficult to read too much at a time, I'll switch between that and something else.

I often put several books on my currently reading shelf at a time but that's usually more of a queue than all of the books I'm actually reading.

message 29: by Claire (new)

Claire (onmythroneofbookss) I can only read one kindle book at a time. But otherwise I can read at least 10 at a time. Right now Im currently reading 8. (:

message 30: by Julie (new)

Julie I like to read only one book at a time.

message 31: by Phoebe (last edited Aug 21, 2013 08:34PM) (new)

Phoebe (wuas) | 11 comments I read about 6 to 8 books a day. I have a type of photographic memory so I could read a book in a few hours and multitask to! I also could read about 12 books at the same time.

message 32: by Gisbelle (last edited Aug 21, 2013 08:35PM) (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Phoenix wrote: "I read about 6 to 8 books a day. I have a type of photographic memory so I could read a book in a few hours and multitask to!"

Seriously? You mean you read and finish them all in one day, or just finish some parts of the books?

Well, if you do read and finish 6 to 8 books a day, you are officially my idol :)

message 33: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (destinyisntfree) | 3 comments I am pretty much strictly a one at a time girl, but I will read a few pages of a long-term read in between something else.

message 34: by Jillian (new)

Jillian (literary_ghosts) definitely 2 or 3 at a time. i can't just read one book unless i'm completely engrossed in the story.

message 35: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (yerawizardamanda) It depends on my mood. I can do multiple books at once, my highest being 4 at a time but if I am really engrossed in a book or its one I've been dying to get my hands on I will read just that one. & sometimes I just read one because not much is grabbing my attention.

so I am a either or type of girl. I can do both :)

message 36: by dealwithapril (new)

dealwithapril 3 tops! only read printed copies... so yeah! but depends on the genre of the books if I'm reading a classic or something that needs "focus". I only read that one. but if its a YA or chick lit I can do 3. :)

message 37: by Adam (new)

Adam | 180 comments Wow some of you have good memory

message 38: by Jojobean (new)

Jojobean | 553 comments I can't read more than one. I dunno. I feel like I don't wanna get into a book and lose the groove by picking up another

message 39: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments Joanne♥~Bookworm Extraordinaire wrote: "I can't read more than one. I dunno. I feel like I don't wanna get into a book and lose the groove by picking up another"

That's true, but sometimes I get bored with one and have to start another.

message 40: by Becky (new)

Becky (booklovingcoffeeaddict) | 4889 comments Joanne♥~Bookworm Extraordinaire wrote: "I can't read more than one. I dunno. I feel like I don't wanna get into a book and lose the groove by picking up another"

I can understand that totally. But for me its more like I get mad or overwhelmed by what's happening in one book and I need a change. So that's why I usually have more than one going at a time.

message 41: by Alec (new)

Alec I can read about 6 at a time as long as they're all different, plus 1 or 2 audiobooks.

message 42: by Erin (new)

Erin Beaufait (eroseb) | 6 comments Only one. I know that's corny to all these other people that read like 6 at a time. WOW. When I get into a book I get carried away and all I want to read is that book. So I guess I'm not as skilled. But I'm a newer reader. And 1 is the most I will probably read until I get more comfortable:)

message 43: by Neesi (new)

Neesi | 5 comments I can read one book and listen to one audiobook at the same time.

message 44: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 101 comments One book at a time for me!

message 45: by Trip (last edited Sep 06, 2013 11:03AM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) I try to read one book at a time but often end up reading two or three at the most, usually a couple on kindle and other on my computer then maybe a library book. It all depends on how interesting I find the book I choose to read first if it gets boring or drags I may need a break which ends up starting another book, then it repeats...

message 46: by Dave (new)

Dave | 90 comments Mostly I read only one book, but at times I do read 2 (one on kindle and other a book)

message 47: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (jor2) | 4 comments 4

message 48: by Paige (new)

Paige I think 3 at the most. If I read more than that, I get the stories mixed up.

message 49: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (cosytomelibrary) I'm currently reading 4 but that's a rarity. I find I usually read 2, one on the laptop and one when I'm going to sleep.

message 50: by Rosal May (new)

Rosal May Ruda (rmruda) | 139 comments My highest was 3 but now I'm sporting 5.. but it's ebook though, so its not really hard.
