Yes, I do think that is the main reason Nikki Return. That what makes this book is quite interesting to me. I mean I can see that Cole is right and is good for her but she can't see it because she keeps hoping to make her relationship with Jack better. But I don't understand why she do that when she thought that Jack made a mistake in the first place which made her went willingly to Everneath with Cole. (hide spoiler)]

And Mary's bracelet actually belongs to her. If I'm not wrong, in Greek mythology Persephone has 3 pearls that can make her go from Underworld. Maybe the bracelet is another pearls. It's just my guess, though :D (hide spoiler)].

I read until chapter 3 last night.

(view spoiler)[ It took off right away. I am really worried about why she is getting so weak. I wonder if somehow, Jack is taking energy from her rather than vice versa. I wonder if she will have to feed now instead of the 99 years from now that she expects. Something is definitely strange and of course... Cole is just playing games. About Cole (view spoiler)[ I completely understand that. I think Cole honestly loves her. I think he would do anything to try to have her to himself. The memory he leaked to her during the feed kind of reinforced that thought to me. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I think the creepy guy with the black eyes and mouth must be someone sent by the queen. I am also wondering what happened to Cole. I find it difficult to believe that he would not do anything he could to make sure she got that feed in. I worry that they took him prisoner underneath and if that is the case then I can't see how she could possibly make it to him in her weakened state. I am at the edge of my seat. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I agree with Cole truly loves her. I kinda feel bad for him because he loves her so much. I like the whole memory flashbacks, kinda a cool way to see everything.

I love that she is trying her hardest to make sure the band does not take any of the girls to feed off. She is one stubborn girl who will not be stopped.

Cole has been taken because he has her heart and something big is going to happen dealing with her heart. I can tell. It's been such a big part of the book so far. (hide spoiler)]

On your other thoughts....(view spoiler)[that is a good theory. Maybe the queen learned about her and wants her taken care of so she can't take over and become queen. I think he has been taken. Because you are right he would do anything he could to make sure she got her feed. He loves her too much. If they did take him she does not have his hair. It is getting good. I would read more but it's 1AM and I need some sleep. I will try to read more during the day. (hide spoiler)]

Read through chapter 15
Man, this is the way to end a series....
(view spoiler)[ So now we know that he and the band were taken. At first, I was not sure what to think about his amnesia. I had a theory that maybe his amnesia was caused by the queen destroying his Everneath heart, but after reading another chapter or two I am not so sure anymore. It is still a theory I am entertaining, but then I also wonder if it was the torture.
Did it break your heart when he said "Then why, when I have forgotten everything...why do I still know that I love you."? Man, even if you are not a fan of Cole, I think that you would have to feel for him at that moment.
I thought Ashe's story was so sweet as well. I think Cole hid a lot of his feelings. Hearing that story, I think that he knew he could fall in love, but he just had not met that person yet. I think he knew all along that she was going to be different and that he could fall in love with her.
Then in Chapter 15, I could not believe that Cole told Ashe that they were going to try and take down the Everneath. I sure hope their plan to follow him works.

Got a good bit of reading done today and read through chapter 23.

(view spoiler)[ I have to admit that I kind of like this amnesiac Cole. Man, that shade place was really intense, I was so worried about Jack since they left him to guard. I have to admit that when they landed in Nebraska and the fact that they did not need the 2nd tractor ride but took one because Cole got so excited about the the tractor for rent... made me giggle.
I wish that they could find her heart. I do wonder where he hid it. I am trying to guess, based on the past books... but so far I am not sure. Right now, my money is that it is hidden at the club.
One of the more curious parts to me is the memory of the big headed guy. Did he burn him up? I reread that section a few times, and it sounds like whatever he gave him started a fire or the big headed guy got mad and started the fire.... I can't tell.
I thought the references to the myths was kind of cool and now that they are at the lake, I am finding myself wondering how the tree is going to help them get the sickle. Maybe they will use the branch to fish it out? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ This is becoming a GREAT book. I'm really enjoying it. I was sad when Cole and the band were taken. Even though he has done so much I still like him. I was not believe the whole amnesia thing at first. It's weird and it's something I thought he would fake.

Yes that line broke my heart. I was reading it sitting my my fireplace and my dad was near me and I was all acting like a fangirl with a huge smile and he asked me what. It was hard to explain. So I just told him something in the book.

See that part in chapter 15 for me made me think something is going on with him.

She does have a great heart. No matter what she does not want anyone to get hurt. Even Cole and his band. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 23 (view spoiler)[The shades creep me out. They just are weird. I kinda picture them like dementors from Harry Potter. Jack is really different in this book. His whole new body/strength was a very interesting aspect of the book.

The little boy in Cole came out in the tractor part. Too cute. Almost like a true human action.

I hope he remembers where he put her heart. I wonder if it's with his. Maybe he and the band all put their hearts in one top secret location so no one can find them. But where????

The flashbacks and the myth references have been some of my favorite parts of this book. Adds a whole different aspect to it. (hide spoiler)]

I finished this one up last night. I think it was a great ending to the series... but honestly I was sad to see it end.

(view spoiler)[ Oh my god the beetles! I could not imagine having to go through them or having them crawling all over me and biting me. Man, that scene would freak me out if this was a movie.
I like how she was able to make their battles believeable. At first I could not imagine how they would be able to take down the underneath, but as it unfolded I found that it made sense that they were able to do it. I am so glad that Ashe came through for them.
One of the most memorable scenes for me was when the band members were murdered at the feast! I felt so bad for Cole!!
Finally, what did you think of the fact that Cole had her heart the whole time. I am glad in the end, he realized that taking down the underworld was the right thing... I also think that without his band and not really ever having Nikki's heart, he knew that it was his time to go. I do have to admit a tear or two leaked out when she was begging him for his heart. I also finished it last night. I agree if it had to end this was a great way to end it. I did not want it to end at all. When I got to the last 3 chapters I kinda stopped for a few minutes. It was sad.

I'm leaving now but will be back later to talk about the ending.

But I'm glad it ended the way it did.

I cried (view spoiler)[when the band was killed and when Cole died. Even though I hated him most of the time I did not want to see him die. At leas he was happy. I was happy with the way it ended.

As the part of Cole having the heart. I was mad at him. He tricked her but he knew it was only way to get her moving and get her into action. A few tears came out of me at the end. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[I know what jack did was the ultimate sacrifice and he is a true hero, but I can't make myself care for him. He is just so boring and good. It probably doesn't say much about me, but all I want to do is tell him stop being so dramatic and roll my eyes.

I love Cole, he is so much more than a villain or a bad boy. He is the kind of anti-hero I love. He isn't one dimensional character YA often offers, because he is insulting you and has tattoos doesn't mean he is a bad boy. That's a cliche that has to stop. But Cole?! He is different story all together. His character is complex with depth and I'm hoping we will explore more of him in the book. (hide spoiler)]

"Love You Beary Much"? Oh Cole! What am I gonna do with you?!

Chapter 5(view spoiler)[ Nikki is being stupid. Cole is right, Jack gave up his life so she could live and she is treating her own life like it's nothing, like what he did means nothing. And she could use herself to convince Vole to help her. I mean, who doesn't wanna be the queen of Everneath, right?! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ I wonder if Queen can control shades. It seems to me like a partnership more than an ownership. Like she gives them what they want and they give her what she wants. Shades seem pretty uncontrollable. :) Why is number 3 so important to Everlivings? I can't remember reading anything about in mythology. (hide spoiler)]
