Ending Thoughts
(view spoiler)[ Can we kill off Jack now? I'm over him. They seem to have lost the real "point" to the book now. We now have a triangle of love going on, badly, worse than book 1. Jack, and Cole all going after the MC. Dumb. We did get a better look at the Everneath, so there's that. The twist near the end, eye rolling but i guess it gets you to keep going (hide spoiler)]

Neverfall, Ending Thoughts: (view spoiler)[ I am liking Cole more and more. I found this novella better than Everneath. I thought it was interesting to learn more from Cole's POV. I enjoyed it. However, it still could have been better. I give this novella a 3/5 rating. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[It's good that she started to investigate on her current state with Cole. Whatever happens with her and Jack in the past, I think she lacks investigating. I think she just assumed something bad about their relationship considering how nice Jack is in the present. And that is a very rash decision on her part. Let's see how the story goes. I'm glad it catches my attention after how many pages later. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I like the way the author has included setting clarifications at the beginning of each chapter. I don't know what to make of Jack yet. I have a strong suspicion that he has betrayed Nikki, and I feel like I'm going to be betrayed at some point considering how thoughtful and caring he seems when Nikki reappears at school. (view spoiler)[ So I was a little confused about how Cole is negatively affected if Nikki returns to the Tunnels before the six months has elapsed. Does he lose some of her energy or is their connection affected or even severed? My suspicions were confirmed about a type of portal to Everneath being located in the convenience store. Jack seems really protective of Nikki at times, but then there are times when he seems to give her space and almost seems too distant. I'm a little frustrated by trying to figure him out, but I'm still enjoying this book. (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure about continuing. Really wanted to like this book! And I did, but only the supernatural parts. I love a good paranormal book without so much romance that it becomes a .. well .. romance. I have this vision gods and goddesses being badasses. I guess Cole was representing Hades while Nikki - Persephone ? She wasn't very badass. I really want a retelling of their story with badass characters in modern times 😁 if someone knows of a such, contact me

And why does Nikki trusts Cole so much? Even after the feed? And the girl has some serious trust issues with Jack in the past. How can she just toss her trust with Cole? Which sounds like a Dementor Please give some supporting details. (hide spoiler)]

I feel you. The world of Everlings is interesting but I think there's something missing for it to be well-liked. And I don't like the MC at all.

Everneath 74% (thru chapter 24)

(view spoiler)[ The suspense factor has really picked up now that Jack and Nikki have talked to Meredith's mom. I kind of had my suspicions at Mary's connections to Everneath and even Cole. The countdowns of Nikki's time left has me very curious as to how this book will end (so glad I already have book two). Jack seems like the stable support that Nikki needs, and it makes sense that she wants to protect him by not telling him about the tunnels. I'm no longer on the fence about his character and trust issues. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I thought the ending was predictable from assuming Cole's guitar was his heart to revealing that it was actually his pick to Jack's sacrifice. However, I did like the book, and it kept me interested in the bracelet connection and the outcome of when the Tunnels finally came for Nikki. Since the sequel actually involves visiting Everneath, I think I'll start reading it and see how it goes. (hide spoiler)]
