Noel (noelchidwick) | 4 comments A very small and select group. C'mon folks, there are loads of Edinburgh books out there - let's see if we can't get some of them listed here.

Nichole (nicholioli) | 1 comments My Edinburgh reading is pretty much limited to Alexander McCall Smith and "Trainspotting", but I'll throw my hat in the ring. But wait -- does Stevenson's "Kidnapped" qualify?

McCall Smith and Trainspotting - you certainly cover both sides of Edinburgh's character there.

Kidnapped? Don't see why not.

Marie Macpherson (goodreadscommarie_macpherson) | 3 comments I've just joined this wee but perfectly formed group. May I add to the pile Muriel Spark's book set in Edinburgh

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark

Noel (noelchidwick) | 4 comments Ah, but of course. An Edinburgh classic.

Maggie Craig | 4 comments Am I allowed to add my own or is that regarded as shameless self-promotion?

Confessions of a Justified Sinner. Now, there's an Edinburgh book par excellence.

Noel (noelchidwick) | 4 comments Thought I'd add a link:
The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner

And add it to my 'to read' collection.

Shameless self-promotion? And why not!

How could I forget James Hogg's 'Confessions'! One of the greatest classics.

(As for self-promo Maggie, you could list your books on the Scotland's Reading Challenge Group where mines been listed.)

Maggie Craig | 4 comments Marie, think we've discussed Confessions before, haven't we? Think some of my books might be on the Scotland's Reading Challenge Group. I'll have a look.

Noel, you said I could! Today is publication day for pb of my very Edinburgh-based Jacobite novel, Gathering Storm. I did a Goodreads giveaway, so today's adventure was carrying 20 jiffy bags to the post office in torrential rain.

How about Stuart Campbell's, RLS in Love for an Edinburgh book? Poems and text are lovely, and the love is sometimes that of RLS for his precipitous city and longing for the Lammermuirs when he was in the South Seas.

Marie Macpherson (goodreadscommarie_macpherson) | 3 comments Aye so we did! Congratulations on the publication of your novel. I'll tweet it. Are you on F/B?

following on from Maggie Craig I see a local lad Craig smith has just published. The Mile. a comic novel about Edinburgh published by Pilrig Press. (don't see it listed tho)

Maggie Craig | 4 comments Thanks for RT, Marie. I'm not on FB.

Slightly off-topic but getting desperate now. A week and a half ago I mistakenly combined some of my books rather than editions of the same one. Have applied twice for librarian status, sent a query etc. No response. Anyone here got librarian status and able to separate my books for me?

On topic: I've just added RLS in Love to the group bookshelf. Presume we can all add more? Still finding my feet on here.
