I think there might be more, because this person appears to have written 12 messages in our group, and as far as I see it's always the same spam message. I've only linked the ones I noticed in the discussions I follow.

Thank you Marina, I woke up to the emails this morning, the member was still in the group so I have managed to find all his comments, I have deleted and blocked him and I'm working my way through deleting the comments.

I am aware of this comment left here but I can't seem to delete it. It won't let me.

It does look like it as the link is quite suspicious. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

If you are happy to gift it, go ahead but just be careful we do have a lot members from all over the place in this group. In case you may not want to pay more shipping overseas.

Why do entries dated 2016 and prior all have lines thru them?

Another option is to leave it at a train station or bus station or some other public place with a note suggesting whoever finds it should read it and pass it on to someone else.

I'm honestly not sure, this is not something I have done. I'm hoping it's just a site error.

Go to this link and follow instructions: https://support.office.com/en-us/arti...

I knew know how to do that but wondered if the Mods did the initial strike-through for any particular reason. But thanks, Anyway :)

It’s still there, I can’t link on my phone but have a look under Book Chat. It’s under there. I will link when I get on my laptop in a bit.

Thanks Alannah - found it okay now!!

I still need to work out the dates for the November one as it is over American thanksgiving. I have just set up the October one; https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I'm sorry for the lateness, with everything going on. I had a health scare, the week just got away from me.

Yeah, was hoping to set it up on my lunch break at my laptop today but my phone did not stop. Will set it up first thing.

Is there going to be a 'Favourite Books of 2022' thread?
I've noticed last year's wasn't particularly 'well-used' but I find it quite useful and helps me organise my thoughts as to 'best books of the year' when it comes to December!

Thanks, Laura!

From the other groups I’ve seen, it’s sometimes (though not always) pretty clear which book is leading. For people who might have a hard time getting a copy, and/or for those of us who like to read in advance of the discussion (to avoid seeing spoilers), that earlier information would be valuable.
I’ve skipped a couple of recent reads, because there wasn’t enough turnaround time. What I’d really love is a few more weeks between the poll and the discussion, but that seems like a bigger change. Displaying poll results ahead of time would be a step in that direction, though.
spoko wrote: "I’m curious about the polls—why are the results hidden until the poll is complete? I’m in several GR book clubs, and this is the only one that does that. Especially considering the short turnaround..."
There's no real reason but I don't think it's made a difference in participation though. We are aware of the spoilers which is why we are now creating two separate threads where people can choose to avoid or read about the spoilers should they wish. We are hoping going forward, that if people can't get ahold of books in time, they will not see spoilers accidentally.

You may be right. It’s definitely made a difference for me w/r/t participation, but I’m only one person.
As far as the two threads, I find that approach interesting. To me it doesn’t seem sustainable to bifurcate the discussion like that, but if others are comfortable with it, I could certainly be wrong. For me it means I wouldn’t set foot in the spoilers discussion until I was completely done with the book, and by that point I think I’d probably feel like I was pretty far behind the thread. There are times when that’s enough of an obstacle to prevent me participating. My own approach (read completely, then discuss) works better with groups that have more turnaround time between choosing the book & discussing it.
Again, obviously I’m just one person, and if no one else has any of these hang-ups, I’m fine just participating in whatever limited way I can be comfortable with. I mostly raised the question to see whether anyone else consider these to be issues.
