Hi Tara. Welcome to the group. Here on the site, books are listed by ...uhm... is it ISN#? try to match the cover you have to the ones you see when you search for the title here on goodreads. If you find your cover, it should tell you the publication date.
Hi Tara, welcome!
a book that old won't have an ISBN number, I don't think. Trusty old google? Or perhaps project gutenberg?
Google wins again - 1862: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Aud...
From the article: Lady Audley's Secret follows Robert Audley through his detective-like work in trying to uncover what happened to his friend George Talboys...
no one else is going to care, but Talboys is the name that Dorothy Sayers gives to the house where her (autobiographical) character, Harriet Vane, goes to live at the end of her series of Wimsey novels.
Thank you Tara for solving that mystery for me.

Thank you fro the info... However... LOL! The cover on my copy doesn't look like that. However you were most correct in the assumption that there was no ISBN number.
I must also correct myself when I said that it was leatherbound as it is not. It is actually a hardcover with an almost clothlike feel to it. You know, kinda like Burlap or hard netting but not?
I have some pictures of the book if anyone might be interested in helping me research it. ?Please?
Also, I am so glad that I could help solve a mystery for you though. ;-)

Interesting. My mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in Feb and is now in a nursing home. And I rather feel the same as you.
Welcome to the group!

Mom had a stroke in February and it put her in a nursing home. (Please no I'm sorry's or condolences please, I'm not a mean person I am just a firm believer in Karma and she is where she is via her acts of hatefulness. So, with that being said...) While going through her things and packing everything up, I came across some very old books. One I have right here in front of me is "Lady Audley's Secret", written by Miss M. E. Braddon. It's a leather bound copy, and published by Hurst & Company Publishing, BUT THERE IS NO DATE ANYWHERE IN THE BOOK! How in the world do I find out the publishing date or ANY info at all on this book?
