Alan Toner | 30 comments Do any of you use pay-per-click campaigns to advertise your books? If so, how effective have you found it?

Bryan Mooney | 78 comments Alan- I have used it in the past and I am currently using it for my latest book, INDIE but with mixed results. You pay anytime someone puts it on their to be read file but you control how much you and for how long. It cost a minimum of $150 to try it. It's worth it to keep your name out there.

What I would loved to see is writers supporting writers by buying their books. I don't believe in the giveaways. I buy copies of books and give an honest review, with the hope they will do the same. It works and reviews are more powerful then "likes"
Just a long winded thought however.
Bryan

Michael | 9 comments I think you have better luck sharing your book on sites like www.goodreads.com, www.penblock.com and other sites that are book-focused. I wouldn't spend the money unless you can narrow down your target audience to a very defined set of parameters.

Alexandra Bogdanovic | 39 comments I'm using the self-serve advertising here on goodreads.com, which is also pay-per-click. The nice thing about goodreads' system is that you can "pause" the campaign. It too a little bit of tinkering to get the campaign up to snuff, but like Bryan I think it is worth it in terms of ongoing name recognition. If you have the budget, it is worth a try.

Richard I've used it on Goodreads and Facebook, and haven't had any luck on it at all. I have done very specific settings on Goodreads, as well as a general blast. I've had about 3 clicks since I started the campaign months ago. I've had thousands of "views."

I don't believe it really works very well. At least, not for me.

Hi Brian, I'll swap reviews with you. I'll buy your book if you send me the link.

Drdiana | 4 comments Hi Alan,
I can't figure out how to advertise my book on amazon.
When I contact the advertising department, I never hear back from anyone. Has anyone had any success advertising on amazon?

Thank you and Happy Holidays!
