Mary Filmer | 119 comments Yes I would like to add a blog to your site, when you start it. If you are going to do interviews too that is a good way to start the site ticking over. I did a interview for another author just the other day and it was great to see someone has already looked at it. I am a little busy at the moment to add any more but I will a little later on. Mary Sumeridge Beginnings by Mary Filmer Mary Sumeridge: Beginnings Thanks and look forward to reading the other authors you put on your site. Mary Filmer Children's Author.http://maryfilmer.com

Cynthia Vespia (cynv) | 48 comments All I'm looking for is for each author to pick what they think is one of the most important aspects of building an author platform (whether its how to use Twitter; Goodreads; Press Release, etc) and write a bit about it.
Too many times I see a list of things to do without any real content on HOW to do it.
Send it to vespia1 (at) aol (dot) com
You can pimp your own work too, I don't mind. Just include any links you want added.
First come, first posted. I'll leave it up for a full week.

Alex Stefansson (paradisesquandered) | 31 comments I'm willing to be a cautionary tale...

Seriously, though, I self-published my debut novel almost a year ago now, and looking back, I feel like I did pretty much everything wrong the first time. But I have learned a lot from my mistakes and feel much wiser for having overcome so many obstacles, even though so many of them were self-imposed.

Arabella Thorne (arabella_thornejunocom) | 354 comments Okay Alex what did you think you did wrong? I just published my first book, The Elf Lords Revenge by Arabella Thorne...I am. Completely overwhelmed about all the blogging blog tours buy likes on FB..Dish! What did you learn and what mistakes do you think you made?

message 9: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Vespia (cynv) | 48 comments Alex, I think that would be great to share with other authors so they don't make the same mistakes.

In fact guys if you just want to write about what did or didn't work for you that would be cool too.

C.M.J. Wallace | 193 comments Cynthia, I'm still trying to build my platform and would love to read your blog series. Could you provide the link to your site for me and anyone else in the same boat?

Cynthia Vespia (cynv) | 48 comments Sure CMJ

I haven't started the blog series yet as I'm still trying to gather authors but I have some other good info on my site.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments I have a few articles on Self-Publishing and Indie Authors I could share. I also just read some tips on how to use Twitter properly and effectively but I'm going to keep this to myself only cause I need to try it out for myself and see if it works! lol.

Alex Stefansson (paradisesquandered) | 31 comments The biggest mistake I made was not even attempting to start building a platform before my book was released. When I self-published my first book, I was working as a bartender. I told a lot of friends and acquaintances (and bar patrons) about my book, and about articles I had written (I used to write a lot of articles as a freelancer), and I guess I sort of assumed that my book would start to take off on it's own through word of mouth. I really shouldn't have relied at all on drunk people...

Tiffani Hollis (tiffanihollis) | 23 comments I'm interested. I have 15 years of marketing experience that I have used to launch Ampersand H. Book Design and Marketing. We just launched www.LexAllen.com a couple days ago and his free book promo landed him a #3 spot with over a fifteen hundred downloads. :-)
