When did you read this BJ? Did the author seem to be well known at the time? Was she taken to another planet? Anything about what his civilization was like, other than "at war"?
The Spawn of The Death Machine is a possibility, if they were on Earth at some time in the future.

Hmm, I read this as a teenager like 12 years ago, but it seemed like a novel from the 60s or 70s, going off the cover.
the female character was the protagonist.
im not sure if the warrior takes her to another planet, but that is def possible.
the civilization was kind of like tribal warrior/nomad-like, kind of like the dothraki in a song of fire and ice, from what i can recall.
If I could just remember the title, there is another story of about the same vintage as the one I posted here that, while NOT from the PoV of the female character was kind of similar to your description.
Her people are the descendants of a small "think tank" type community that did a lot of military weapons type work. Most of the rest of the world is basically primitive to barbaric. So, think caveman up to, hum, late Colonial. And there is an "alien" type creature (view spoiler)
Unfortunately, I can't remember what the title was, and I just got back on to check this real quickly before heading to bed. Feel free to check out my books, since I KNOW that this book is in my library somewhere. Since my library is somewhere approaching (or maybe past) 4k now, it might take a while. :o)
The cover you describe sounds like it might have been done by Boris ValBoris Vallejo. At least, I've seen one of his covers that looks very like your description in The Fantastic Art Of Boris Vallejo
.
edit--unfortunately, it doesn't give a title for what the art work was for. Sorry.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

i definitely remember that this story was from the point of view of the female character. and i don't remember any aliens.
boris vallejo sounds like a likely candidate for the cover, and it's definitely in that sort of style, but i did some searches through his artwork and nothing has come up so far. some ladies with nipple shields, but nothing that looks like the cover in my mind.
i wish there was some amazon with nipple shields fantasy book cover database.
i've been google image searching for awhile and i can't come up with anything.

kinda sounds like it could be the book i'm trying to find, but none of the covers for it look at all like i remember. could be i got some weird edition, though.

thanks so much for helping out.
i was given this book to read as a teenager by an older friend. reading the description now, i wonder what they were thinking.
also, i am curious how much i actually remember while i'm re-reading it.

I'm looking for a fantasy novel that I read as a teenager, but now can't remember the title of. The details as they follow may or may not be true either, because memory is tricky like that. But maybe for someone reading this it rings a bell?
From what I can recall, the story is about a lady scientist (i think she was a scientist) who gets kidnapped by this warrior. He brings her back to his tribe, and she slowly becomes an important member/influence to the tribe.
A scene that I remember is of two/multiple tribes being at war, and at some point all meeting on this large camp-site, where they have a "temporary peace" and maybe feast/trade/etc?
The cover that it had, if it helps, was like a traditional half-naked science fiction/fantasy pin-up lady with little metal discs covering her nipples.
Does this ring a bell? Let me know!
