M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I noticed this https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
And couldn't help thinking indies were under represented so I added lots of series from our authors here... Except I just realised I've forgotten Stuart and Will. It looked as if there were lots of single votes and as If it would only take a few votes to get some of 'our' authors onto page one... Where the normals will see them.

Apologies if this is in poor taste/the wrong place....

Damn I forgot Jim's too. As it's just series and trilogies I've assumed that recommending one book from each is enough.

Anyway... Here it is.

Cheers

MTM

PS edited to add. We're mostly on pages 1 and 2 with 2-4 votes... Others may be at the back if they've only one vote so far. And I've added the ones I mentioned forgetting. :-)

Jim | 21817 comments Thanks MTM.
Now let's hope folk all run out and vote for them.
Mind you something needs doing to tidy it up, there's a lot of duplication

message 3: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Agreed and they should probably just put the first book in each series in to represent the whole.

Cheers

MTM

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments This list is worth a look too:

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments I would love to support these guys but I haven't yet finished reading an indie trilogy (I know, I'm rubbish) so I'll give the first one a miss.

David's link however...

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Rosen, if it helps I haven't finished writing mine! Have downloaded your latest though. Looking forward to reading it ;-)

Cheers

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments David I couldn't find your books on that list... Found Stuart's and a splendid salmagundi and voted for them.

message 8: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments David's link is for 'unknown but should be known books'. George RR Martin's Song of Fire and Ice is represented!

message 9: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Yes, I think quite a few have heard of that one.

message 10: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Yeh, that's not exactly unknown is it? Phnark.

Also, i notice the Americans have got busy over night and David's list has disappeared under about 6,000 sex books with one nomination each. I couldn't find any of ours and tried to vote by using the lists of books people from this forum had voted on to find the books I wanted to vote for but I'm not sure it's worked very well.

I'm also not sure that having a buff male torso on the cover of your book and calling it "Flaming Balls" is the best marketing tactic... Unless it's a comedy. Phnark.

Cheers

MTM

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Haha, "Alloria" has plummeted from 58 to 513. Rapidly back in the pits of anonymity.

message 12: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Scratch that. I got confused; too many lists. 513 is as high as it climbed. Lack of exposure is a heavy burden to drag :~)

message 13: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Can you add you own book to these lists? (since no other bugger seems to want to... ;))

message 14: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Sorry Tim yes of course. If you can find it on there I'll vote.

message 15: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments David, Darren and my books are on the first page with three votes each. I'm the only voter for Terry Pratchett. Phnark.

Jim's must be on the first page somewhere, too...

message 16: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Ok, as far as I can tell it's 1999th on David's list, and 231st on Mary's...

Victoria Pearson | 259 comments David wrote: "Scratch that. I got confused; too many lists. 513 is as high as it climbed. Lack of exposure is a heavy burden to drag :~)"

Ah well hun, at least your books are on there ;~)

I voted for a few Terry Pratchett books too. Not sure anyone would thank me for adding all 35+ of his discworld books though ;~)

Tim | 8539 comments Here's another list for the YA bods (I'm 3320th!)

Coo yeh. I'll have to remember that one for next year too.

message 22: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments It's a pity the series one doesn't have the first book representing each series.... It would clean up the list and make that vote fairer.

message 24: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Ooooo!

message 25: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21817 comments gods alone knows how the voting system works. Yes I've pressed the button, but how a book with four votes scores more than a book with 5 is beyond me

message 26: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Could it be to do with how you order your selections when you choose more than one?

message 27: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21817 comments That's the only thing I could come up with, but for three votes to be worth from 221 to 299 there's an awful lot of weighting going on in the votes. But then I noticed some people had voted an awful lot of times so perhaps there is

message 28: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I voted for yours Jim, but your below a clutch of Goodkind books in my vote. With this new information I'll push you up my list. Goodkind needs no extra exposure!

message 29: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21817 comments cheers David
It gets awfully complicated

message 30: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments I did vote for some of my faves, but I've read hardly any on that list. It does seem rather complicated.

message 31: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21817 comments good lord, I'm at 82!

message 32: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I think the weighting is to do with the reviews and ratings. So a book with one vote and a score of 4.58 stars comes higher up than a book with one book and a score of 4.37 stars.

Jim nice job getting to 82.

Cheers

MTM

message 33: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments We've got Stuart at 46 and David at 60! We're all doing quite well I'd say.

Cheers

MTM

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Is it Jim's 82nd birthday today?? Where's the cake?

message 35: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Phnark. Gumbee.

message 36: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21817 comments It just feels as if it's my 82nd birthday.
Been a busy week

message 37: by Simon (Highwayman) (last edited Aug 17, 2013 12:12AM) (new)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Ummm.. Best trilogies. Asimov foundation trilogy by a country mile.

message 38: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21817 comments I don't think he's even mentioned is he? Anyway he'd get nowhere because he's got no 'friends' to vote for him.

But yes, he certainly deserves to be one of the top two, fighting it out with Lord of the Rings

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments OIY.

Hitchhikers!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Of course hitch hikers as well... I might read some asimov again actually....
