Editing and Proofreading for Indie Authors

I've recently started offering my services as an editor and/or proofreader to independent authors.
I'm happy to copy-edit or proofread any work of fiction, from short stories to full-length novels.

My rates are below the US and UK average (I've included the prices in dollars and sterling, but bear in mind that the exchange rates change frequently).

I will edit a sample of up to 5 pages for free. Please format your work as follows:

Times New Roman or other easy-to-read font, size 11 or 12.
Double spacing.
Generous margins (say, one inch) in order for me to insert comments.
I prefer to edit in Word, using Track Changes, but we can discuss other options.


Proofreading

I will check all spelling, grammar and punctuation.
$0.004 per word or $4 per 1000 words (Approx. £0.026 per word or £2.66 per 1000 words)

Copy-Editing

In addition to correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, I will also make suggestions about wording, repetition, sentence structure, and stylistic errors.
$0.01 per word or $10 per 1000 words (Approx. £0.0067 per word or £6.77 per 1000 words.

I accept payment via Paypal only (you don't need a Paypal account to pay with a credit or debit card), and start work upon receipt of 50% of the total amount. I require the second 50% as soon as possible after the job has been completed.

My turnover time ranges from one week up to a month maximum, depending on my schedule.
