Since this one is a re-read for me, I'm curious about two things mentioned early in the book I don't recall being discussed much, if at all, in later books...(view spoiler)
Doubtless there are holes in my memory since it has been a few years since I last read the VA series, but I'm candidly drawing a blank about either of the above getting much, if any mention, later on in this book or in the rest of the series, or series-plural if you throw Bloodlines into the mix.
I really got into this book and couldn't put it down. Each book in the series just gets better and better!
I read this book last year, and my memory is a little foggy, but I remember not being able to put it down! I really hope you enjoy it! :)
I liked this book, but Rose annoyed me a little. It definitely held my interest. I really liked the vampire world that she made, I thought that was really interesting and creative.
I have read every book in the series and enjoyed them all. The hardest part now is waiting for the release in the next. For those new to her writing make sure you read the books in order including the Novella's she wrote. They help to explain the side characters and their actions. i was really glad i read this. for the longest time i was against reading the series, thinking it was gonna make me bleed from my eyes if i read it. i was totally wrong. it reminds it of the Lux series. i expected to hate that one too but now it's one of my favorite series. i can't wait to read the next one
I was a little wary of this series too. Then I came across it again and decided to pick it up. Really glad I did. I think Mead is really great at creating dynamic and likable characters.

I really love Mead's writing and I've read four VA books so far. But I have to admit that I'm really not much into Rose. I think she's so conceited, arrogant and whiny. Can't stand her...Speaks for the author that I still want to know how the plot develops, right? And I definitely like some of the other characters like Adrian or Christian.
I've read this book a few years ago and I remember how Rose annoyed me. She was so full of herself, mentioning on every second page how she's super-hot and how every boy likes her. It was a bit too much of that really. But I loved all following books in series and I think Rose stopped talking about her fabolous looks, too.I liked the whole vampire world Mead created. Dimitri was one of my first book crushes, but I never cared much for Adrian. I like him more in Bloodlines series, though. Can't wait for The Fiery Heart!
I hate Rose. She's arrogant and annoying. But I do like the worldbuilding and I will keep reading to see how the story unfolds.
I'm so glad that there are more people thinking like me. I mean, honestly, I don't want to hear how big her books are one more time.*sigh* And yes, I will still read the next book (#5) soon.

Happy reading!
