So far I've only read 20% and I really like the dialogue. Sarcastic and witty most of the times :) I'm really glad this series got chosen for the read along

Yeah I've just started to read it only about 20 pages in. There's just so many small detail that I've forgotten! I'm surprised how easy it is to re-read this book, usually I'm usually bored two pages in when I try to reread books.

I've just made it to chapter five in this book has me totally excited for the movie! Although I can't picture Jace as the guy who's playing him… but I can picture Clary that way.

I read City of Bones and adored it. Can't wait for the movie! I plan to read City of Ashes next week.

Yeah I felt like he should look more, I don't know… muscular. But maybe my opinion will change upon his acting, but I still can't picture it...

I'm 23% done.. And Clary is pissing me off. >_< she's like a baby that needs to be watched constantly.

I've had moments where she has annoyed me quite a bit as well. I know they are suppose to be just teenagers but whining will help nobody!

And I thought Tris was bad in insurgent :p Clary makes Tris look like a genius. Haha

I really liked City of Bones after I got past the first 100 pages. I had read this book before in high school (I am now in college) and I was pleased that I had reread it. I have not read the rest of the series and I will be delighted to finish the series as this group reads it. (In the spoiler tags is a spoiler for the end of the first book. Please do not read if you have not finished the first book.) (view spoiler)[ Did anyone else think it was slightly strange to find out that Jace was Clary's brother after they seemed to be falling in love with each other? This was a little too weird for me (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, it's like she knows nothing of this world but since she "killed" that demon in the beginning she feels she can handle anything when she obviously can't. And the way she jumps into things and then complains about the obvious outcome is annoying.

i hated that Clary was so implusive and whiny at least Tris took action and dealed with her issues, like Tris had a gun and she learned how to fight.

Yeah, I was referring to tris in insurgent. I loved her in divergent.

yup, she was great in it, i understand that in Insurgent she's dealing with a lot her parents death and she had to shoot one of her own friends.

I got she had a lot going on, she was just a little less appealing to me in Insurgent than in Divergent.

I gave up guys.. Dx I got to 31% and I couldn't take it anymore. I have not one single ounce of desire to continue this series.

Ouch :( well, to each his own I guess but I am curious what turned you off about it. Was it just Clary or something else?

The story for me was extremely slow, the action I felt was boring, and I really just didn't care about the plot or the characters. Plus I've never been one for the paranormal genre and I don't particularly like the mythology that the book is based on. The writing was great, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Fair enough, I can see where your coming from because I love the fact that it has all the paranormal races in it so if you don't like that kind of thing this would not be something you'd like lol. At least you gave it a shot!

Yeah. When I first read the book I didn't much enjoy it but one of my close friends recommended it so I continued with the series. And yeah if you're not much of a paranormal fan at least you stopped now.

If I was being honest, I feel like this one is my least favorite of all her books so far, even the Infernal Devices series, but I do love some of the others. It's almost worth getting through this one just to get to the others!

I agree. When I first started the book I was like: is this what everyone's always raving about ? But it definitely became worth it the farther I got into the series.

EXACTLY! I have flown through the next 2 in TMI and I just got the last TID that's out in a matter of two weeks. It just gets so much better as they move along.

I read it and when I was done I had no desire to read the second one. I liked the story and was really into it. However the ending just spoiled the whole book for me.. :(

We are on City of Ashes for September! Personally this is one got better for me after City of Bones but feel free to discuss!!!

I finished City of Ashes tonight. It was a good read but I did like City of Bones better. Still good though!

For me, City of Ashes was a little clearer about what was going on. Maybe it was the abundance of information we needed to get through in City of Bones but Ashes I felt I actually got everything that was going on not trying to figure out what creatures were which and who was what.

I haven't started City of Ashes yet - just finished City of Bones, and if Ashes is better than Bones well then I'm going to love it! If it's not, it was still pretty interesting. Fingers crossed.

I read this book a while ago when it first came back, wasn't too impressed with Clary and her decisions, all her flaws really stuck out to me in this book
