I used the screenshots as an example to show you that ISBNs are generated for projects, no matter what they are named when begun or what they will end up being named when published. My book IS published under those ISBNs, but it was uploaded under a different author name and with a different cover than what is listed in the Goodreads listing. Even so, the book was published on July 27th on Createspace using "Olivia Besse" and a cover with "Olivia Besse" pictured. I had clearly requested the change on Goodreads PRIOR to that.
Goodreads has a policy that only published authors and covers will be used on books' profile pages. Thus, even if I WANTED to keep the authorship of "Olivia Best" and the cover pictured, it would be removed due to site policy, as those were not used for publication.
In short, ISBN generation isn't publication. Createspace requires multiple rounds of proofing and reviewal/approval before publication can even occur. You can change the title/author/content/whatever thousands of times before you complete the submission process, and the ISBN will remain the same.
I do not understand how I would be able to explain it any more clearly.
Olivia, the previous thread was closed by a Goodreads employee who asked you to contact support to resolve this issue. We librarians are volunteers; we cannot override the decisions of employees.
I've contacted Goodreads's technical support team three times already and have yet to receive a response. Rivka, is there any way that we can discuss this? Thank you.
