Horror - How about Frankenstein? I noticed some editions are below and some slightly above 250? Would this one qualify?

I know what you mean. Editions differ slightly from each other so it's fine. It's not like the editions of Frankenstein vary drastically between 200 pages vs. 1000 pages, and this is close enough.
It's up on our shelf now. I used the ISBN you suggested. It's 215 pages. Thank you, Julie!

Graham Greene would be a good author to add: many of his novels are under our limit, including The Third Man, The End of the Affair and the fantastic Our Man in Havana.

Will do! BTW - is there a way to search the group's shelves? What I mean is, if I want to suggest The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories, can I search for that somehow to find out whether it's already there? I've tried the button which says "search", but it lied to me...
I know what you mean.
That I know of, there are two ways to see if a book is on our shelf.
1. The easiest way is to select "bookshelf" from the group home page, and hit the word "title," so you can then look it up alphabetically.
2. Another way is this:
group home,
bookshelf,
under the "search for books" field, (on the left) you should be able to enter the title,
select "search"
If the book is on the shelf, I notice it says "choose" next to it.
If it isn't on the shelf, it says "other editions."
If anyone has an easier way, let me know.
Another good books suggestion. Added to our shelf, Pippa! Thanks!

Ahhhh. So it wasn't lying, just telling half-truths :-)Thank you!
The Bloody Chamber has been on my to-read shelf for a while. It's one of those books that never quite wins polls. Maybe a good one to nominate for October, and see what the interest is.

Hi, Sasha! Sure! If Frankenstein is chosen on the poll here
October Polls
then we can read whichever versions we chose and yours sounds like something we should all check out.

I have a few suggestions - Childe Harold's Pilgrimage(because we can all use a little of Lord Byron in our lives) House Made of Dawn or The Bridge of San Luis Rey to be honest, all three are books I plan to read this year anyway to complete another goal, so I may be a bit selfishly motivated...

We the Animals (by Justin Torres) - a poetic and electric book about growing up dysfunctional. The book is read in a day but sticks with you.How about some Nabokov? Invitation to a Beheading is a delightfully weird little book that I would love to read again. He has some other shorter works that I haven't read: Pnin, The Real Life of Sebastian Knight, Despair, Bend Sinister.
Some others I'd like to read someday
Notes from the Underground - Dostoevsky
Chronicle of a Death Foretold - Gabriel Garci Marquez
Invisible Cities - Italo Calvino

How about A Cup of Tea: A Novel of 1917(by Amy Ephron)? I believe it is "Short and Sweet" and I believe it would fall under historical fiction.

What Really Happened in Peru, The Runaway Queen, Vampires, Scones, and Edmund Herondale, The Midnight Heir, The Rise of the Hotel DumortThese are great novellas. They're really short. I have them on my ipad and depending on how you hold it, the number of pages will be different but it's always less than 250. Like if I hold it horizontally it'll be around 120 pages. And vertically it'll be around 65. I love Cassandra Clare's work.

Here are some favorites of mine, and all at 250 pages or less:The Loved One by Evelyn Waugh
Cocktail Time by P.G. Wodehouse
Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan
The Captive by Colette
The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne and The Luck of Ginger Coffey, both by Brian Moore
and one that I have lined up to read for 2014 is "A Swell Looking Girl" by Erskine Caldwell.
