I haven't actually read the book, but I read the back. Here is what I remember: It's about a girl who is around 14 years old, and she just figured out from a doctors visit that she is about to go deaf. So then she must go to a school to learn ASL. Thanks so much for any replys you guys can give!!

I read it a few months ago at a local bookfair, I think it might have been a Scholastic book though

The problem with it being a Scholastic is--they tend to re-issue books forever. So it could just be a re-issue of an older book. Or it could be brand new.

Here's a fairly recent Scholastic book where two characters are deaf, set in two different times, and it's a graphic novel of sorts.
Wonderstruck is a historical-fiction book written and illustrated by Brian Selznick and published by Scholastic Press
