Lynda (okalrelsrv) | 8 comments How, in general, does one disambiguate two or more authors by the same name? In librarian jargon, what's the authority for authors in Goodreads? For example, I was working on a book Embers Amongst the Fallen: Speculations for
Colleen Anderson and, at the author's request, seeking to avoid a link to another Colleen Anderson (author of "The Professor's Sex Slave"). So happens my Colleen Anderson came up as the default for the desired book. But I've wondered about the "how to" here more than once. Is there an authority for a particular author (despite having the same name as other authors) which one can put into the author field to be certain the desired one is associated? I have noticed "add an author" here puts in text with the number that appears in the URL for the author profile in Goodreads. But tried using the number.name piece from the profile URL to no avail.

(tl;dr: Add more spaces between the first and last name to create separate profiles for each author. The disambiguate tool can do this in a batch for you when creating a new author profile.)

Deon (deonva) | 3718 comments Note: The Colleen Anderson with one space is likely to have books added on that are not hers, because someone might not know how many spaces to add.

Posting back to this group will get it changed/moved to the correct profile.

Right now I see 3 other Colleen's.

Colleen Anderson | 12 comments I'm not the Colleen Anderson who has the erotic novels but they're listed with my other titles. I find it very frustrating that it's never easy to find how to contact a librarian, to figure out if I'm in my books to read or in the section of me as a writer, and I can't seem to change anything.

Is it possible to get the IT gods to add some button that says "ask a librarian" or something? As well as how to delete a title, how to add one? Right now it's a fox hunt where the foxes are nearly extinct. I've been hunting for a half an hour and found this old message. No idea how to move those other Colleen Anderson's out of my titles. Thanks!
