SOLVED. Book about man wrongly accused of rape [s]

I read this a couple years ago and cannot figure out the title at all, but there are just some random details I remember. It's about a man who is accused of raping a young girl after he is found by the girl's father (who is also a policeman) with her underwear in his pocket. (Sorry if this topic is a bit upsetting for some people) While he in jail before his trial, he performs miracles such as splitting a tiny piece of gum amongst several guys and I think he might have healed another guy. He never opposes his charge and ends up with the death sentence, during which the mother of the girl watches after finally realizing he didn't do it (the father was actually sexually abusing his daughter)
