Vishnu T (vptea) I would say Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro is a must read. It's tender and written in clear and simple language. A sort-of coming-of-age novel with a difference.

If you've read those I think you'll like Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the World, and Anna and the French Kiss. They're both of the same tone as John Green's novels. As for The Book Thief, I think you'd enjoy The Outsiders or To Kill a Mockingbird as well, both are phenomenal.

Julia (juliace) The Nightingale and Winter Garden both by Kristin Hannah. Both are historic-fiction set during the WWII time frame. The Nightingale follows 2 sisters in occupied France and how the cope with the occupation, and Winter Garden focuses on the Siege of Leningrad. IMO both are very powerful books.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah - Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
