i think that it would have been interesting to see what type of girl he chose for himself since he wasn't quite sure of himself because of his inexperience. i have to say that i think that she has a great chance of making the list even if it was in Maxon's hands since her photo showed her in a moment of real joy and happiness, and still with a bit of her spirit coming through. i think that's something that draws maxon to her which is consistent with his feelings for her now. i also think that he knows what kind of girl he's physically attracted to and clearly she's his type. even though there are other girls in the mix that he spends time with, i think that he would have given her a shot since he doesn't seem to care about class systems and all that.
well technically the selection is supposed to be a random draw of girls. the king is just a controlling bastard
I thought it was random too and that the king only influenced/forced Maxon into keeping certain girls and eliminating others.I think Maxon really does like America and I think he would have chosen her because he tells her at some point that every other girl left is there for an alternative reason (political connections, public popularity, etc.) but the only reason for America to be there is because Maxon wants her there. He basically tells her that she is his personal choice.
