Should I read this?

I have been meaning to get to this book forever and I am really open to all types of books. I learned that there is going to be a movie- Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters- and I will make sure to steer clear of everything. I refuse to be spoiled by anything because so many people praise this book.
Should this be the next book I pick up? Pro's, cons?
Edit: I forgot, when I think vampires I think twilight. I don't really care for twilight, but would you say this is the same as, worse, or better than twilight?

I think you should read it , its a book I really enjoyed.Richelle Mead just has this amazing way with words , I love the way she writes. This book has everything you'd like in a book , there's humor , ass kicking , mystery , half vampire bodyguards .. I dont want to mention any spoilers , but it is not your conventional vampire story which I found refreshing ! Thanks to all the cliched and hackneyed vampire imagery in other stories ! So yeah if you like vampires and like to read a story about them with a new twist , then you should definitely read it. I hope you find this useful XD

You must remember that Vampires were cool before Twilight. It really has no congruence to the book besides the fact that it involves Vampires. This books author, Richelle Mead, researched and based her Vamps off Russian folklore, instead of some mumbo jumbo she made in her head. It invokes a whole list of new emotions, not just romance. I fell in love with the characters, and have not yet found a book that made want to be there friends like Vampire Academy. The first 2 are good, but the last 4 are AMAZING. Read, read! :)

This is defiantly worth the read, it's a thousand times better than Twilight and written better as well. I love all things vampire and while this isn't my favorite vampire series, it's the best teen series for vamps out there. Not to mention that now that all the books are out if you move on to the next in this series there are some serious cliff hangers, but they are all out and you won't have to wait to find out what happens, a major benefit.

Loved the series and Love the author. I enjoy the Bloodlines novels, the spin off of VA, more. I have not been disappointed in any of her novels yet.

Read it, I think that even though it shares the topic of vampires like Twilight, it is nothing like twilight. The main character actually does things like rescue herself and is an actual heroine and not a whiny-do-nothing-let-the-guys-rescue-me type of character.

I think u should read it after u see the movie. That u can enjoy the movie. Later read the book to gain full insight all characters. most often, the movie is short so the the details are lost.

I have read the first two books in this series and am seriously considering picking up the next book soon. What I really liked about the first two books, without spoiling anything, is how strong Rose really is. Its a completely different world from weak (physically and mentally) Bella Swan. Rose kicks ass and falls in love, but not in the the "I'm going to kill myself if he doesn't love me" type love. Try to think pre-Twilight vampires. They were so much cooler then. Not to mention they have a completely different world and different types of vampires. There are so many really good differences. But I think Rose's strong will is biggest different. The main character is so important and Rose really is one of my all time favorites.

Yes! you NEED to read this book. And it has noting to do with twilight. the only similar thing about these two series is that they both have vampires. But everything else is completely different. Twilight is pretty crap in comparison to this WPICALLY AMAZEBALLS of a book series. If your thinking about reading it, READ IT! Trust me you will not be disappointed. It's my absolute favourite book series EVER!

I just finished the serie because it isn't fully published in italian (and GOD why, I just don't understand) and I finally managed to get them in english...absolutely READ THEM they're great! I'm having serious problems in reading something else 'cause I'm still addicted from that world and craving for more!
