August Challenge - Read a book discussed on ABC's The Book Club or their 'Top 10 books to read before you die'
I've decided on two books, as one is my all time favourite book which I have not reread for about 4 years now. The book Club reviewed it last year as their classic, viewer choice.
The Chrysalids / John WyndhamMy other choices is
Dead Man's Chest / Kerry Greenwoodwhich they reviewed in December 2010.

Wow, I can't believe I've read 9 of the ten!!! Not going to do the Courtney in August and none of the discussed books appeal (or I've read them already too) so will bow out for this round

I haven't read Jasper Jones, so will most likely go with that if I can find a copy in London. Otherwise I may reread The Magic Pudding which I haven't read since my children were little. I still have their books! I dont think either will live up to the quality of The Book Thief, the best book I've read in years.

The Book Thief last month, so I think I'll take
Jasper Jones off my bookshelf for this challenge."Oh, now I don't know! I looked at the site and have picked 4 more. Spoilt for choice. They are: The Silence of the Lambs
, Solar
, Zeitoun
and The Shadow of the Wind
. Not enough hours in the day.
Well I'm sure you can read all of them Andrea, it's only about one every 4-5 days;)
Some great choices there though:)

After an extended hiatus from these challenges I am delighted to be able to take part this month.I reviewed the list and was pleasantly surprised to find that I have read half of the titles already.
I spend two hours in my car each day and have chosen to spend the time listening to audio books. Jasper Jonesis my choice for this challenge.
Thanks for putting this challenge together.

Yes but the library is having trouble getting the other one I requested - The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes. Some naughty person should have returned it on the 17th July and they have not! Hopefully their reminder letter will jog their memory soon.

Maybe they like it that much, they have decided to keep it?

It's actually for my Winter challenge - a graphic novel. If it doesn't come back before the end of August I will just choose one from what is available on the shelf.

Maybe I should look for Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1. Michael would appreciate that I think.

As I wrote on the main challenge page, I'm going to have a crack at Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I've been wanting to pick it up since I read The Road and No Country for Old Men close together a couple of years ago.Brenda, I'm sure you will like The Silence of the Lambs. I read it quite some time ago now but it kick-started me back into reading horror/mystery/thrillers after a big epic fantasy bender.
