Paul The keyboard isn't really cursed, you know.

At least, I don't think it is...

message 152: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thank you, Paul! But if I find wet footprints on the floor where there shouldn't be any, I'll feed that keyboard to Renee's kraken!

Words today: 332

message 153: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 945 by hand. Rehabilitation in progress.

message 154: by Liz (new)

Liz | 80 comments Good on you! It's hard, isn't it? Hats off for writing 1600 words by hand. By hand is my favourite method.

message 155: by Anne (last edited Oct 14, 2009 03:50AM) (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thanks, Liz! Do you write in several separate notebooks or how does that work for you? I find that when I write by hand I end up looking like I had wrestled with an ink bottle and lost.

Words today: 1352 laptopped ones.

message 156: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 972 by hand.

message 157: by Paul (new)

Paul You're a really consistent writer Teresa. I admire that. Are you doing the NaNoWriMo?

message 158: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thank you, I feel anything but consistent this week, so your words are sweet to read!

I am tempted to try the NaNoWriMo, but I never dared before so I'm still trying to talk myself out of signing up. :)

message 159: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments I gave in to temptation and am now known as user 534388! I must be insane but it feels like such a fun idea, and if the good people here keep coming back, it can't be that bad, surely?

I prefer looseleaf. And inky hands are part of the fun! But in practice, I often end up on the computer :(.

message 161: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 933 typed ones.

Ah, looseleaf. What a wonderful mental image that word conjures up! You must be very well organised, I'd lose myself and my planning if I didn't have notebooks and documents with dates on them to help me find my way back. And you're right, Liz. Inky hands can be fun, the same way blisters can be fun if you got them doing something you like doing. :)

message 162: by Liz (new)

Liz | 80 comments Oh I don't know about being organised... I just have one of those manilla folders that I keep the story in. I only use it for the short stories, though.

Except inky hands don't hurt!

message 163: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Day before yesterday: 1035
yesterday: 2042 by hand! And no inky hands!

message 164: by Paul (new)

Paul Way to go!

message 165: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thank you, Paul! It feels wonderful to have ideas again! I dried up a bit last week, but now I'm back! :)

message 166: by Liz (new)

Liz | 80 comments *plays requiem tune for inky hands*

message 167: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments How beautiful, Liz! Is it an instrumental piece or does it have lyrics as well?

message 168: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 756

message 169: by Liz (last edited Oct 27, 2009 06:30AM) (new)

Liz | 80 comments It's a little ditty, so lyrics and music. But it's turned into a rhyme-game-type chant.

Here lie the one-time inky hands
All clean and fresh and pure
They signify your 'writerness'
Until you have a shower!

Slur 'shower' and you get an okay rhyme.

message 170: by Anne (last edited Oct 28, 2009 02:08AM) (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Now I wish I could get writerness on my hands from typing on a laptop too, Liz!

Words today: 1432

message 171: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words this evening so far: 943

message 172: by Paul (new)

Paul I lose count. Doing the Nano outline and so on. But you're doing well, plugging away there. Keep on going!

Can I read something of yours sometime?

message 173: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thanks, Paul! I was thinking of that some time ago, but I've been too cowardly to actually write in English so far. Maybe that would be a good challenge for me! Unless you're ok with reading in Swedish of course? Then you'd be welcome to read some right now.

message 174: by Paul (new)

Paul I'm afraid my Swedish is non-existent. Sorry. I'll wait for the English translation :)

message 175: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Translations are almost more frightening than writing in English from the start, but thanks very much for being interested, Paul!

Words yesterday: about 200, waiting around at the hospital with a bad foot.
Words today? Shouldn't think so, as I have to return to the bone-experts and spend yet another day in various waiting areas full of suffering people.

message 176: by Paul (new)

Paul Not a total loss then. Watch them - all the other suffering people. Hospital waiting rooms are great places for collecting characters, mannerisms, expressions and moods.

message 177: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments You were right, Paul! I felt just a bit bad watching someone who's obviously in too much pain to care about anything. Still, being observed can't hurt much, and it's not like I was taking pictures.

message 178: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words yesterday: 4549. Having a bad foot is very good for productivity it seems! Not a method I would recommend though.

message 179: by Anne (last edited Nov 02, 2009 01:12PM) (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 3801. Unbelievable, but true.

message 180: by Paul (new)

Paul Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go Teresa. Get injured more often :)

message 181: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thank you! Now I'm tempted to injure one of my characters, just to see what they would do. :)

message 182: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 1659. My foot is much better = word count is down a bit again.

message 184: by Paige (new)

Paige Miller | 4362 comments Teresa, I've done my best to create a cozy cubical, with cheerful, warm colors that make me think of cold winter days spent inside by the fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate. There's a living room, where you can entertain your many guests or simply enjoy a solitary night by the fire; a bedroom, to give your brain a much-needed rest when it's running low on creativity; a kitchen, to prepare snacks and other "brain food; a stylish but cozy bathroom; and a warm home office for all that writing that needs to get done! :)

If there's anything you need or want me to change, let me know, and I'll get right on it. :) I hope you like it!

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Oh Tink, you really are amazing, and so clever! I love every bit of it! I can't think how you managed to get it so exactly right just from what I told you.

The only trouble now is that I'd hate to leave my beautiful new cubical and get all the other things done, like washing and shopping. :)

message 186: by Anne (last edited Nov 08, 2009 04:04PM) (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 751, and a bit more so a total of 2364, by which time it had become tomorrow already. So confusing.

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Words today: 1683

message 188: by Paul (new)

Paul Nice going Teresa. I reckon you're averaging 1500 words a day, which is, in the course of a full year, 540,000.

Or two put it another way, about two completed full length novels!

message 189: by Anne (last edited Nov 09, 2009 01:23PM) (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Really as much as that? That would be wonderful, if all the words were good ones and if they followed eachother in a pleasing manner, that is. When I read what I've written so far for the NaNoWriMo, I want to go and hide somewhere because it's so bad.

(I still having the time of my life though, so the embarrassment is not limiting in any way.)

message 190: by Paul (new)

Paul First drafts my dear. Slap the story down, revel in the ideas, tell the story.

Afterwards, exercise your writerly skils abd whack it into somthing yuo can sell, or ahow ro your firedns.

You get my drift...

message 191: by Anne (last edited Nov 10, 2009 10:28AM) (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments I think I understand! Thank you! It feels a lot better to think about it this way! My inner editor is going to have a thousand fits over this draft, but she'll have to have them later. :)

Words today: 2483.

message 192: by Paul (new)

Paul See? Get it down, worry about typos and grammar later. Ideas first, white-hot creative frenzy...

Sorry, I'm just getting carried away again there.

message 193: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Please do get carried away! It's very inspiring reading.

Awww, thanks. *blushes* I'm glad you like it!!! :) My work here is done.

Great WC's, by the way!!! Any writing is good, even if it's not good writing... because even if it's not what you want it to be, you can still learn from it. :)

message 195: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 225 comments Thanks, Tink! Yes, it's good to practise even if the result is a bit off from time to time. If I keep this up I might even make it to the end of the month.

Words today: 664
