I read this book five or so years ago when I was in middle school, I borrowed it from the library.
The main character had an unusual name, supposedly (I remember), named after something good willed. Something like "Reason"? Her mother had named her that- who had been a witch of some sort, which she passed down to her daughter. She finds two others like her, a boy and a girl. They all have some sort of magical item and the main character picks a shell, because she liked the endless lines on it. Then later on she seduces the (girl) friends' older brother, and they have sex and she gets pregnant. Pretty sure it took place in Australia.
Long shot about finding this story, but it's been bugging me because I remember it being a really strange book.
