Do you need to have read 1984 to understand this book? When it first came out, I heard rave reviews about it. Just curious.
Got Fingersmith out of the library, and already read Part 1. Although quite a lengthy book, this is going to be a quick read, I think.
Lauren wrote: "Starting Fingersmith today! Excited after all the rave reviews!!!"Me too, just getting into it and really enjoying it so far!
I started Dracula by Bram Stoker last night. I don't expect to sleep much this week. The only other vampire book I've read was Salem's Lot by Stephen King when I was younger (obviously not a list book) and I definitely had some nightmares so I am hoping it won't be bad as an adult with this book.
I am halfway through Vanishing Point by David Markson and I am really enjoying it so far. The context is different from what I expected and and it is fun to read these facts about the literary world.
Carol wrote: "Wuthering Heights. Just finished Jane Eyre. (I think I see a pattern developing.)"just started this too

Dracula's a really good book, hope you enjoy it.
I've just started Wuthering Heights, I've been meaning to read this book for a long time as it's one of the "classics", I'm only a couple of chapters in, so I haven't really gotten into it but I have high hopes.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!"
I already finished it! It was so good!!! =D I liked it so much that now I'm reading The Moonstone =)
I'm taking a quick break to get through the Divine Comedy, but next up is War and Peace. It's been staring at me for a few months, so it's probably time to just bite the bullet.
I am attempting to read Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Not to say that I haven't been enjoying the story so far but the book is over 1,000 pages - I have a feeling this is going to take me awhile.

Oh cool! I've bought the moonstone, but have a strict book reading rotation so it'll be a little while until I read it- what do you think of it so far? How does it compare to The Woman in White?

Nope, but it's a good book!"
A bit like the continuation of his last novel, The Shadow of the Wind
I'm not thoroughly enjoy of the book, at least for now ...A story a little repetitive

It's a series. The third in the series is The Prisoner of Heaven. He's writing the 4th presently, according to his website.

The Last Juror-it's fast moving, funny, & a great vignette of 1970's small town Southern life so far :)
Along with Les Miz - I have also started 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, due to all positive comments. I have to say, I am really enjoying it so far.
Luís wrote: "The Angel's Game is a list-book?"Ignore my previous answer if you'd like, Luis, but the answer is still no.

I coincidentally was reading Les Misérables and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami at the same time this past spring. Both were excellent, I thought, although completely different experiences.

No offense taken. Nothing by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is on the US list.
Just started The Return of the Native. My first Thomas Hardy novel. I hear the beginning is slow but it picks up after the first 50 pages.
Animal's People by SinhaAnimal's People
I'm half way through. I will definitely have to finish this novel to know what I feel about it. So much to admire and detest!
I started The Handmaid's Tale last night. I have been looking forward to this one for awhile! Love Atwood!
