Oh man, I'm so sorry that's happening, Bark!

That would probably happen to me as well. I seem to dislike books that everyone else loves and I like books that everyone else loathes.

The Girl on the Train has to be among the worst books I've read. I have absolutely no idea how it got so many high ratings.
But I've also disliked The Elementals, The Night Circus, and The Shadow of the Wind, all popular books with lots of high ratings.

Heehee, The Elementals is one of my favorite books of all time, if it's the one that Michael McDowell wrote. The Shadow of the Wind is another favorite of mine. :)

Matthew (mpontiff) | 127 comments Michael Bray's From the Deep ranks up there for me. At 50%, it became a chore to continue but I still had hope. I was so grateful for the ending and regretted not DNFing it.

John Brhel Ready Player One. Fan fiction, reference-everywhere garbage.

That's too bad. I really enjoyed Ready Player One.

Mkittysamom (mkittysabkworm) | 93 comments Hmm, worst book lately...one of my authors I review for decided to randomly give science fiction a try. I feel bad but it was so horrible!! It was cliche, boring..and mostly made no sense.. A lot could be cut out being in no way a reference to the actual story. I don't think this author likes me anymore..they kept bugging and bugging me for an opinion.. So I gave one. Oops. Being a "ethnic" writer..and usually writing about topics they know.. The sci Fi was for a horror/sci Fi afficianado... A huge let down.

Mkittysamom (mkittysabkworm) | 93 comments There was another one I could even get past the first page..an Alice and Wonderland spinoff. Ouch. Hmm oh here are some funny ones: Cannibals Do people taste like chicken? by Marla Buchanan barely 1 star, Passive Aggressive Notes Painfully Polite and Hilariously Hostile Writings by Kerry Miller , After Dead What Came Next in the World of Sookie Stackhouse (Sookie Stackhouse, #13.5) by Charlaine Harris Worlds WORST LETDOWN EVER! I loved all the books and extras and this was just stupid.
People of Walmart Shop and Awe by Andrew Kipple gets old after awhile....

And Moby dick..took me 10 years to read it not kidding!

Bill (llibrro) | 1113 comments Has anyone read "Ulysses?" Did you enjoy it? It's considered by many to be the greatest book ever written. I haven't read it, but I remember being assigned an oral report on it in 9th grade. I attempted to read it but just couldn't do it. I stood in front of the class and said, "Ulysses, by James Joyce," and then sat down. I'm sure it's a fine book. Maybe one day I'll read it. Maybe I won't.
