Amazon has put my novella, The Child Thief, in the free store twice and taken me out twice. This is very frustrating since I'm trying to advertise the story as free and use it as a promotional tool but I wind up looking like a liar when it unexpectedly goes to the paid store again.

I really need some help with price reporting to let them know that The Child Thief is still free everywhere but Amazon.

Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BWBOQNI

The tool for reporting lower prices is in "Product Details" below the Amazon Best Sellers rank.

The story is free at these locations.

B&N: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-c...
Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

Thank you to anyone who takes a moment to help me out with this.

Thank you! I really appreciate any help.

Damn, it's so frustrating. I've been trying to promote it as free and every time they do this I lose whatever sales ranking I'd gained in the free store.

Cassandra (closkot) | 10 comments I did it for all 3 sites :) One of the other authors I know had several people doing this daily and it took about 3 weeks before it was permafree

Cassandra,
Thank you, I appreciate the help.

I've been told by another friend that it takes a long time to get permafree. I guess I'll just resign myself to waiting. :)

Thanks, Cassandra. :)

Cassandra (closkot) | 10 comments It is free now :) If you didn't schedule it, then its perma free now :)

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Cassandra,
I hope so. The story isn't enrolled in the KDP Select so I didn't schedule it. However, it's gone free twice before and then flipped back to the paid store a few days later. I've been told that it can take a few weeks of flip flopping before it'll go permafree.

Well, I did my part for you too Melissa. (Altho I happen to prefer my Nook--I do have a Kindle as well. But, well, my hubby is 6'3 and weighs in at 220, and wrestling that Kindle out of his hands is a bit over my fighting weight (I'm 5'3")

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Ann,
Thank you. I appreciate your efforts.

I also prefer my Nook but it's battery is slowly dying. I think we'll be replacing it with a tablet that can read both B&N and Kindle files.

I had an old first gen Nook too--which I totally LOVED. but like you--the battery died. I can still USE it--but only if it's attached to a charger at all times. The new one I don't like as much, but it's still easier to use than the Kindle. (Plus, like I said--wrestling the Kindle away from my hubby isn't easy.)

Cassandra (closkot) | 10 comments Well it is still free, has it lasted 4 days being free before or do we think it is permanent now :)

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Cassandra,
I'm checking it every morning and taking it one day at a time. Amazon is too unpredictable for me to make any permafree declarations. LOL

Ann,
Our new Nexus 7 arrived today. I haven't had a chance to fire it up yet but it's about the same size as the Nook. I'm looking forward to using a reader than can handle all file types. :)

Hey everyone,
The Child Thief has been free on Amazon for well over a week. I think I finally made permafree. Thanks to everyone who helped me out! :)

Melissa
