I haven't decided if I'll read or listen to it, but I'll likely pick it up right away.

Are you guys interested in doing a group read? We don't have to do it release day if we want to wait for Ctgt to get his library copy.

message 1502: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments I'd be in for a group read of that. My February is reasonably busy but I've got a head start on my reading already, so I should be able to squeeze it in.

I'm not hurting for books to read, and if I do audio it'll have to be timed to fit in. I'll probably decide closer to release (2/20) if I want to spend a credit or see about getting the text.

I'm already over budget (I get 24/year and I've used more than the 2/month I'm supposed 3 months into the year) on credits though, so I could stand to listen to a few previously purchased books and/or library books to save credits.

message 1504: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Shame to waste an audio credit on such a short book though ...

I haven't looked at page count/audio length. Sometimes short books are pretty cheap to buy w/o a credit.

I'll have to take a look before deciding what to do. I always hate to spend a credit on books shorter than 15 hours though.

message 1506: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments I'm one of the first on the hold list so it's just a matter of how quickly they receive the book in the library.

message 1507: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Ooooooooh, I'm gonna buy that.

Not sure if I will be finished with my current book in time to join you though, it's a whopper and I'm strapped for reading time.

I'm going to add the book tentatively for 2/20, but we can push it back if need be.

Anyone interested in doing Two Serpents Rise in early/mid March?

message 1510: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Sure that would work for me. I'm interested to see what he comes up with next.

Yes from me.

Any preference on a specific day to start?

message 1513: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments March 5 or after - I'm going to Emerald City Comic Con the weekend before.

My friend and I got tickets for the Worldbuilder party again - we get to play a game with Django Wexler this time - yay! I'm glad I finished that last book!

Oh man. I'm super jealous! My buddy lives in Seattle, I should make him go to ECC some year.

message 1515: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Yes you should :)

As for Two Serpents Rise - I'm curious about how it feels with continuing world but non-continuing characters. I'm glad we'll read it before I have time to forget the last one.

Two books coming out in April I plan to read. Both are sequels to books we've read.

Grey Sister April 3

Head On April 17

Anyone else planning on reading either book?

message 1517: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I'm planning on reading both of those.

message 1518: by Mark (new)

Mark | 482 comments grey sister for sure.

message 1519: by Sky (new)

Sky | 1291 comments Yep Grey Sister as well.

message 1520: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments I'm planning on Grey Sister and have Lock In queued up on audio for closer to the Head On release.

message 1521: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments Maybe Grey Sister if I can fit it in.

message 1522: by Richard (new)

Richard Eyres (richardeyres) I am a little behind due to moving house. I plan on reading them, but will be a couple of months away (still have to read Red Sister).

message 1523: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I don't know yet

Can’t join in when you guys read this, it’s not released till may in the uk.

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Which? I hate when stuff hasn't different release dates.

message 1526: by Mark (new)

Mark | 482 comments Grey sister. Sorry Rob.

message 1527: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Oh, double bummer. Of the two, that's the one I'm looking forward to the most.

Isn't Mark Lawrence British? If anything shouldn't it be coming out in the UK first?

message 1528: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Yeah that surprises me its a whole month later!

message 1529: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I might be in for Head On.

Definite no for Grey Sister. First book didn't draw me in enough to continue on with the series.

New Magic 2.0 book in June! Not sure if it's another audible exclusive again, but I do audio anyways.

Out of Spite, Out of Mind

message 1531: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Oh cool - I always do audio too - Luke Daniels does a great job with that series (as with every series).

message 1532: by Kat (last edited Apr 20, 2018 03:15PM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Last Uhtred? Just saying.

I'm sure we're missing the last of the published ones.

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I do need to get back to that. My reading has been awful lately. I've been on the same book for almost a month. Life hasn't been conducive to reading for me lately..

Maybe in late May?

message 1534: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Late May would work for me.

message 1535: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I know what you mean, I've been *not* reading a lot lately as well. Am forever stuck on Aztec, which I've been reading on and off since January.

message 1536: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Is anyone else reading Wrath of Empire when it comes out next month?

Suzanne wrote: "Is anyone else reading Wrath of Empire when it comes out next month?"

Yes! I'm really looking forward to that one!

Maybe we should change this from the Not a Book Club Club to the Rob and Suzanne do Buddy Reads group. :-P

message 1538: by Kat (last edited Apr 25, 2018 04:57AM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Rob and Suzanne do Buddy reads while Kat reads completely unrelated stuff and makes cookies group.

Also, I'm up for Uhtred whenever you want.

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
OK. I'll schedule The Flame Bearer for May 21st. That work for you guys?

Anyone else planning to join us? We used to have a lot more Uhtred readers

message 1540: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Lol you just have exceptional taste in books Rob. In my totally non-biased opinion.

message 1541: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments It'll be good to finally finish that series - 21st sounds fine to me.

And Kat - cookies go with EVERYTHING =)

Is that the end though? I thought someone told me he's writing more. I hope it's the end..

message 1543: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Ack - I hope it's the end too - or at least AN end.

message 1544: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments In my other group someone said in the Cornwell thread that he said in an interview he was sort of thinking possibly 4 more Uhtreds, but he doesn't plot them in advance so that was a guesstimate.

Me too. I feel like he's dragging it out too much now.

You're cheating on us with another group? Do you give them cookies too? :(

message 1546: by Kat (last edited Apr 25, 2018 12:58PM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments It's the "Ancient & Medieval Historical Fiction" group, and the only thing I read there is the Bernard Cornwell thread.

No cookies are given to strangers or the uninitiated.

I admit to extensive research in the "Around the world in 80 books" group though, in order to find location-specific reads for my various literary trips. I'm doing a "Geographical Europe Trip", a "Tour de France" (all provinces before they changed the provincial borders), and a "South Pacific Cruise". One book per country/province/island. It's great fun! (You can look at my (slow) progress here, but it's in German)
