Lindsay, your review is one of the things that made me think I might just pick it up (Sleeping Giants). I LOVED Illuminae and Gemina.I'm not sure if Red Sister is grimdark or not. I liked the first Lawrence trilogy but didn't love it - too dark. Loved the second trilogy, which wasn't as dark, and made me glad I'd read the first. It also made me pretty determined to read Red Sister - I'm glad it is getting good initial reviews!
It seems Red Sister is a separate world from his first two series. I'd be in for giving it a try.Sleeping Giants is an easy, fun read.
Definitely looking forward to City of Miracles
Also, when were did we want to do Warriors of the Storm?
My reading time has been pretty awful this year. I'm too distracted by my other hobbies to make much time to read, but I should be able to fit that in April or May most likely. I'm fine waiting longer though.

So was there enough interest in Red Sister for a group read?
I'm not sure I have time right now, but if you guys are going to read/discuss it, I may jump in later.

Hmmm...well maybe we could have like a single thread or a "starting/finished" thread kind of mini discussion for it ?
I'm fine with whatever you guys want. I was just asking so I could do whatever needs doing (add to the shelf, etc)
I've preemptively renamed the Red Queen folder to be a Mark Lawrence folder now.

Sounds like you just need a discussion leader (thread creator) and a date. I can add that to shelf when you guys decide.
I can do the discussion leading thing. I can start now or wait a bit - what do you guys think would be a good "start" date?
I am starting now but I dont have a lot of time to read.I like the idea of a single discussion thread for the entire book...or maybe two - initial thoughts and end of book.
I set up threads. Rob, when you get a chance can you move up the Mark Lawrence topic so it isn't hiding in the basement?

Done.
Done.
Sweet! I am going to start reading a bit after the kid goes to sleep and audio on my commute to and from work tomorrow.
We've read newer books in both Mistborn and Stormlight, but not those two in particular. We'll be reading Oathbringer later this year I'm sure.
We have read The Lies of Locke Lamora though.

Who else will be reading City of Miracles? I have been planning on reading it - but I may be delayed because I won a copy in the goodreads giveaway (yay!) so I'll probably wait til I get my greedy hands on it. As long as it doesn't take too long =)
My copy came today. I'll be starting this week. I've been a bit distracted. I forgot to make a thread..I'll do that now..
Thanks Rob. If my copy doesn't come soon, and maybe even if it does, I'll get the audio version. At least I will if the narrator is good - I need to check.

What's on everyone's radar for June? We currently don't have anything scheduled. Anything good coming out?
I'm not sure that the first one had many fans in this group, but the sequel to Ninefox Gambit is out mid-June, called Raven Stratagem. The first book is on this year's Hugo, Nebula, Locus and Clarke award short lists.

Ooh. I'd be up for that.

That could be good too. I don't know anything about his coauthor though.

I'm in for Raven. If the Stpehenson book isn't a doorstop I may give that a try.I have tentative plans for a Lord of The Rings reread in the next couple of months and I also want to read the Paul Kearney Monarchies of Gods series-Hawkwood and the Kings in the near future, if anyone is interested.
