It's really, really good and absolutely mind-blowing to start with. (My Review).

message 1203: by Sky (new)

Sky | 1291 comments Ninefox Gambit was #5 on my toread list :) I'd be interested. Not sure where it would fit in our calendar.

message 1204: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 97 comments Lindsay that is so awesome to hear. Now I am even more eager to read it.

Yeah the calendar is filling up. Maybe November?

I'm interested in Ninefox. Maybe Nov or Dec?

Apparently, we all slept on Lindsay recommending it the first time..

message 1206: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I'm in for The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and Ninefox Gambit. For whenever you want it on the schedule.

Probably in for The Rise of Io but I doubt my library will have it in right away.

message 1210: by Teanka (new)

Teanka | 134 comments I'd like to read Terms of Enlistment (possibly the sequels, too) and Ninefox Gambit. Maybe also Fingersmith and The Bone Clocks, depending on when. I;m not suggesting anything at the moment because my schedule is pretty tight for the next couple of months, but I will think about it later.

Looks like we should definitely do Ninefox Gambit. Maybe mid November? Say November 15th?

message 1216: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Of course I'll contribute to that discussion. I thought it was great. I think the next one is due in 2017 too.

message 1217: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 97 comments Wasn't that about the time for the third book in His Dark Materials? I might be able to do both because of how different they are, but just wanted to point it out just in case.

message 1218: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Oh yeah. Oops. I mixed up the start date (11/14) with the end date (11/27).

Personally I can do probably both because I'm doing Dark Materials in audio and would likely do Ninefox in text. We can pick another date in November, or maybe do December?

Right now November has 2 books:

The Blood Mirror - 11/7
The Amber Spyglass - 11/14

While December has 1:

Babylon's Ashes 12/6

I'm doing all 3 of those, but all three will be audio, so I can fit in a text read in either month. I'm happy to defer to what others want to do though.

There was a lot of interest: Jaime, Suzanne, Sky2, Geoff, Rob, Teanka, Ctgt. I'm not sure how much overlap between those 3 other reads there will be.

message 1219: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I'll be reading all of the books you listed too - but Ninefox should work whenever :)

message 1220: by Teanka (new)

Teanka | 134 comments I'll be reading Babylon's Ashes, and as for Ninefox, I can read it whenever.

message 1221: by Simona (new)

Simona Ninefox Gambit sounds interesting
I read and liked Fingersmith and the Dark Material trilogy.

message 1222: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 97 comments How about 11/21 for Ninefox?

message 1223: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
That should work for me.

message 1224: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Anyone else have thoughts on 11/21 for Ninefox? Suzanne & Teanka both said whenever, so that makes several of us.

Anyone interested whose unable to do it then?

message 1225: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments Should be okay for me

message 1226: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) Yeah. that's good for ninefox.

message 1227: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
OK. I added it for the 21st then.

message 1228: by Kat (last edited Sep 11, 2016 04:51AM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I'd like to read The Lady In The Van at some point before I watch the movie with Maggie Smith.

Anyone else?

message 1229: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments Seems short so I can probably slip it in between some other reads.

message 1230: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Like ctgt said its short so I will try it.

I'm behind on my reading, so I'm out. Sounds like there is interest though.

You can either use the side reads section, or I can add a section for it. Let me know when you plan to read it and I can add it to the shelf.

message 1232: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments I'm really behind on my reading too but am having a hard time staying intereted in anything so maybe a different book then I normally read will jump start me.

I'm distracted. First by PAX, now by WoW.

message 1234: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I just started on Golden Compass, but anytime after that would be good for me.

message 1235: by Christina (new)

Christina Pilkington | 126 comments I'll join in on The Rise of Io, Ninefox Gambit, and A Closed and Common Orbit. I might also do The Blood Mirror, but I haven't started that series yet so I don't know if I'll finish the first three books in time.

message 1236: by Peter (new)

So I was considering listening to Terms of Enlistment sometime next week after I finish The Golden Compass.

For those of you who said you were interested in that book, would that work for you, or is that too soon?

I can find something else to listen to, but I have the first four books of that series in audio now, so I'd like to listen to the first one sooner rather than later..

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Also, did you guys decide on a date for The Lady In The Van?

message 1240: by Teanka (last edited Sep 15, 2016 07:44AM) (new)

Teanka | 134 comments Umm, for me that's too soon because I have other books planned for this month. I'd prefer i.e. the 1st of October, but I can also read a bit later than you, so no problem.

message 1241: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
We can shoot for sometime in October, early October (like the 1st) would probably be better for me since late October I'll be doing the second Dark Materials book in audio.

So I'm probably going to start Terms of Enlistment next week, I found a few shorter books to listen to in the meantime, but I'll likely be done with them by early next week.

Is October 1st a good day for you guys? Ctgt? Teanka? I guess since Suzanne already read it, the date shouldnt matter to her too much.

message 1244: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Then again, we already have 2 books scheduled for October 1st. Maybe it's best to wait until later in October or early November.

message 1245: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments Anytime in October will work for me. I have a reread of It with my horror group in October but I'll be reading others things while I tackle that one.

message 1246: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
OK, so I think I'm going to go ahead with the group read later this week then. Hopefully that's OK. I'm going to do a short non-fiction book and maybe start this on Wednesday the 28th.

Hopefully that'll work for you guys. I may not make the discussion thread until the weekend though.

message 1247: by Teanka (new)

Teanka | 134 comments Seems OK :).

message 1248: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay | 546 comments Do we have a plan for Lines of Departure?

I had a need to listen to an audiobook (lots of recent driving), so I've started it. I tend to take ages with them though, so there's no hurry if others aren't ready.

message 1249: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I'm doing that on audio too, but I'm not sure when. I have two other books on my radar. I have a trip coming up soon which will give me extra time. So I should be flexible.

message 1250: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I just looked at my upcoming schedule and the length of the audio.

Starting it later this week (Thursday/Friday) would work for me. Otherwise I won't be able to get to it until sometime in November, and then I'll have to schedule around another book.
