Nothing's really jumping out at me right now. But I am so ready to get my hands on Age of Myth.

I'm also in for Penumbra, July is good.I've also been wanting to read To Kill a Mockingbird for a long time now, because pretty much everyone I've met living abroad has had to read it in school at some point and the English-speaking world regards it as a must-know-this-one.
When I was in school we read German stuff that was influential or classic, but no translated works. I feel I'm missing out. Have it sitting on my kindle.
Ctgt, were you still interested in a buddy read?
I still have to read The Burning Land in order not to fall behind on Saxon Stories, though.
I'd be up for either the Charley Davidson or Elemental Assassin books. I've already read the Mercy Thompson ones.
Corsair also sounds pretty interesting, I'd do that one too. I'm a maybe for A Criminal Magic.
As far as series go..I'm interested in Temaraire, but I'd have to read the first book to catch up. I already own that though. The last book of that was recently published right?

And sounds like you have enough interest for one of the Urban Fantasy series Suzanne. So if you guys pick one for sure and a schedule I can make a section/add the book(s) to he schedule.
I added Death of Kings and Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore for June 13th/July 11th respectively.

I really enjoyed both Corsair and his previous book A Darkling Sea, but I liked the latter more, but that's probably more of a preference in sub-genre. I like first contact SF more than techno-thrillers.
@Bill did you have a month in mind for Dancer's? I'd like to read that as a buddy instead of on my own
Scott wrote: "@Bill did you have a month in mind for Dancer's? I'd like to read that as a buddy instead of on my own"Middle of June? I really want to get to it but need to finish my current two books plus Wheel of Osheim.

Depending on other things, I could late July possibly. Probably not if we do another Saxon book then though. Late June might also work if I do it in text, since I'll be doing Age of Myth in audio.
Otherwise it will have to be like September for me due to all the stuff in August I plan to read already.

Just found out that Brent Weeks added a 5th book to the Lightbringer series. So looks like we won't be wrapping up that series this year.
Rob wrote: "Depending on other things, I could late July possibly. Probably not if we do another Saxon book though."I could do with a little break from the Saxon stories.
(I might regret this claim by July)
Bill wrote: "Anyone know release date for audiobook for wheel of osheim? Don't see it on audible yet."I asked him on Facebook Messenger and he said he was told it is coming out the same day as the book.

Thanks. Good to know someone around here has some connections.
@Bill middle of June works for me. I'm excited to get to that. @Rob any of those months work for me really, maybe plan it for September? Then others could maybe, hopefully join?

On the UK audible site, it has a release date of 2nd June - so tomorrow. Not read any of these yet as i was waiting for them all the be out, then other books got in the way.
I'm in for Penumbra and July works well for me. Also interested I'm in rereading the Golden Compass and the finishing His Dark Materials.
Oh yes, Golden Compass. I want to read that before I watch the DVD I found in my second-hand player.
OK, so when would people want to do His Dark Materials? In the Fall? How spaced out? One/month? One/2 weeks?
Fall works for me. I'm a fan of the "one per month" style, maybe start it in September? I like to have time to read other stuff in between series books
OK, so if we did Golden Compass in September that may push Corsair back. Maybe we play that one by ear? I might be able to do both depending on timing and formats.
I have Golden Compass both in audio and ebook I believe..
How does that work for everyone else:
The Golden Compass - September 12
The Subtle Knife - October 10
The Amber Spyglass - November 14

Good with me for Death of Kings, I can usually fit these in between other books.
Kat wrote: "I'm also in for Penumbra, July is good.I've also been wanting to read To Kill a Mockingbird for a long time now, because pretty much everyone I've met living abroad has had to read it..."
You bet. Whatever works for your schedule, Kat.
Ctgt wrote: "You bet. Whatever works for your schedule, Kat."I haven't planned further than Penumbra in July. I will shoot you a message about Harper Lee when I get closer to that!
I'm getting to the point where I might need a calendar to schedule my reads instead of just picking out a new book from my pile whenever I finished with something.I bet Rob has a calendar.
I have a nice paper one. I do use it to mark vacation days, doctor's appointments and to organise busy times for my various jobs.I might just as well mark books in there, too.
(..........aaaaaand I forgot it at home today.)
I just use Google Calendar. That way I can see it on any computer, my phone or my tablet. I also use Google Keep for a lot of lists and short term reminders. Those two apps have helped keep me far more organized and less likely to forget stuff.
Maybe I should add my books to it's own Google Calendar. It would mostly be a mirror of this group's bookshelf though, minus the monthly S&L pick.

Google Calendar + Google Keep two of my favorite tools as well. I put book release dates in Google Calendar, but not all my scheduled reads (I'd have to keep moving them lol)
For Urban Fantasy - Scott mentioned Mercy Thompson, Nicki said any, and Lindsay said he's read Mercy Thompson, but would be interested in Elemental Assassin or Charley Davidson. Sorry if I missed anyone! I guess we have two options and I'm fine with either: we can set up some kind of scheduled read like they are doing with Wheel of Time; or we can set up a folder with the books and read/comment on a personal schedule - that sometimes isn't as fun, but it is more flexible.
What would you guys prefer - I'm fine with either!
I have monthly to read shelves for my scheduled reads on Goodreads. It makes it a lot easier for me to keep track of what I have planned.
Thanks for the quick response Nicki - I always think I should read series back to back - that is a good habit to be in. We'll see what Scott and Lindsay say, then plan.(Note: I was thinking flexible schedule/folders for discussion might be better too just because I wouldn't want to overwhelm the home page with books being read.)
Do you have a series preference?
And for those of you planners - I bow to you. I plan what I'm going to read every month, and then disregard like half of it - I'm very much an impulse reader. I'm the Dorrie of Goodreads - Look! Another series!
Looking at the bookshelf for the group one of the series that I'd be interested in reading from start to finish which hasn't been done before would be the demon cycle by Peter Brett. The Warded Man
The Desert Spear
The Daylight War
The Skull Throne
The Core
The last book isn't out until next year.
I'd be interested in The Warded Man at least, since I already own it. Though maybe done in a way to catch up just as the final book comes out.
Rob wrote: "I'd be interested in The Warded Man at least, since I already own it. Though maybe done in a way to catch up just as the final book comes out."Same here except I would be doing a reread.
I've read the first three but I was waiting for The Core before I read The Skull Throne. I started them before I realized it was going to be 5 books!!
I apparently need to get on reading Mark Lawrence's stuff, since he's now joined our group and probably saw my comments about not reading his book yet..
:-P
So anyone want to read his original trilogy, or at least the first book in it? I imagine you all have read it before though..

I've read Prince of Thorns. It's an excellent work. Very dark. It expresses elements of grief fully. The main character may turn some people off. I will read the rest of his works.
Rob wrote: "I'd be interested in The Warded Man at least, since I already own it. Perhaps not start the first until the fall then do one in winter, spring and summer then the 5th should be out. A few month split isn't bad.
I'd read the Demon Cycle.Rob, if you think it'd work, maybe can we make a folder for the Elemental Assassin series since four of us have expressed an interest - and maybe we can gather others.
I think for that one, since it is a LONG series and the books are relatively short, I'll just set up threads for each book - if that works for everyone. Then we can read/discuss at our own pace.
But if you'd rather do it at a different pace, just speak up!
Sure, but I can't create a folder with a book on the shelf (that I know of anyways), so do you have a rough idea of when you'd start the first one?
