I read it a couple months ago...I actually didn't really love the book, although I am going to read the second one, because the story got interesting (to me) right at the end. It's not something I think I could re-read though.
Well we do seem to have a small hole in the group schedule and so far we have:Lindsay
Sky
Rob (tentative)
Alex (tentative)
Peter (tentative)
with Justine and Teanka who can contribute to discussion.
Is that enough to schedule?
Maybe for May 15 => June 1?
I'd be happy to lead discussion and create the threads.
I'm still tentative leaning towards no.
My reading of Apex has been slower than I'd like.
Plus I'm out of town this weekend (which is when I normally get most of my reading done).
And it seems as though my air conditioner is broken, so I'll be dealing with that this week (although that might actually result in MORE reading time while I'm sitting around waiting for repairman).
If you have enough people interested though I can add it to the calendar/create a discussion section.

If you are going to do the second book too, The Dark Forest, that comes out July 7, I am going to read that for sure.
I'm still down but I think it will largely depend on when I can get it from the library. So proceed without me and I'll try and join in whenever I can get ahold of it. (:
My reading time has been reduced as of late and I am behind on my current books. Next weekend I am busy with wife's graduation and the weekend after that is camping (but with hopefully some good reading)...I gotta say no at this time though. I still havent started Apex and I am the discussion leader!

You were. But I demoted you. :)

I wonder where he's been?

Sorry. I'm still planning to read it, and would be up for a group read. I just have no idea when.

I'm pretty open right now. I've bogged down with Sword of the North so I'm diving into some detective rereadsWon't take part in the Lawrence read; think the next one I will take part in would be Malazan and Queen of Fire
I was going to take a break from reading, but my hold just came in for The Mad Apprentice came in today, so I'll be reading that next, then probably whatever the S&L June pick ends up being.
I'll be doing the Corey book in audio most likely as well. So I'm not really up for any other group discussions until late June at the earliest (unless I'm forgetting something)

I'm finishing up HoC, still have to start Apex, was planning to re-read Prince of Fools before Liar's Key came out (re-read prolly not happening), and have Nemesis Games. And at some point I want to read Seveneves. So I'm good for now :) Oh yeah and I still never read DoT/RoT. And I want to re-read Tower Lord before QoF
I was over-comitted - now I am not committed to anything except Liars Key and Nemesis games :) The other commitments are already blown!
I was just looking at the bookshelf to see when the group read for Half a War starts and it looks like July 16th. But the book doesn't release until July 28th. (I was just looking at the Kindle books I pre ordered and noticed that). Is anyone else seeing this too? I'm just trying to plan out my July books and already have a lot I want to read!
I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing a group read of The Library at Mount Char. It looks interesting, although I haven't read it, obviously. :)
Kristin Centorelli of My Bookish Ways reviewed it well: Read This: The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins and then went on to interview the author. It was that interview that made me check out the goodreads reviews for it.
Have you read A Darker Shade of Magic? I read it just after it came out and meant to ask you because I thought you might like that one.
Justine wrote: "Have you read A Darker Shade of Magic? I read it just after it came out and meant to ask you because I thought you might like that one."It's on my to-read list with about 200 other books :)
Vicious is one of my all-time favorite superhero books so I'm looking forward to a Darker Shade.
You should move it up the list...it's good. :) ... says the person with 400 plus books on the TBR shelf.
Justine wrote: "I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing a group read of The Library at Mount Char. It looks interesting, although I haven't read it, obviously. :)"I'd really like to read it. On one of the Book Riot podcasts they were raving about how good it is.
According to the to-read shelf we're supposed to be starting The King's Blood today, but it's not showing up on the front page. Are we still doing this as a group read? (I'm in if we are).
Good question. It auto disappears on the day of. That read was Alex's thing and he's been largely MIA lately.
I'm happy to move it/get it back on the front page, etc if people want to go ahead with the read.

I will most likely finish Queen of Fire tonight or tomorrow so would be up for The King's Blood after. The scheduling for this series has really gotten messed up after the delay in the release of the last book.
Alex wrote: "Do people feel like we should wait or just read it now?I thought the first book was OK. I won't give up on the series, but I'm not dying to pick it up either."
I'm in complete agreement. But there are a fair few books in this series, and I don't want a mad rush just before the final one comes out. Your new schedule for reading them seems to be a nice leisurely pace.
That being said, I'm not sure who is still in for a group read of this series.
I've read the first three books in the series and would join the group for 4 and 5 if you end up reading them.
We seem to be very light on in August. Does this suit everyone? I can't see the Jemisin book taking more than a week ...
Justine wrote: "The Dark Forest comes out in August if you are looking for a new release read."I wasn't suggesting anything in particular, new or old. Just pointing out that August looks quiet.
I'm planning to do The End of All Things myself.
I plan on The Dark Forest at some point, but probably not right away.
Not sure what else at this point.

I'm for sure going to read the new Robin Hobb book in August. I'll probably pick up The End of all Things too.
Oh yeah, Robin Hobb. I'll probably do that with the other group..though Hanne has been pretty MIA and there isn't a discussion group for it. Maybe I'll just do it here if people are interested.
Hey guys, we're supposed to be reading The Fifth Season from today. If a mod can create the discussion board (I believe the series is called The Broken Earth), I can add the threads.
Discussion board should be there, but appear invisible until someone makes the first thread. If you click new thread it should be in the drop down. I've moved the group to the top so it should be first on the list.
Anyone interested in reading the Prince of Nothing trilogy by R. Scott Bakker? It starts with The Darkness That Comes Before.I previously read the first book and really enjoyed it but definitely need a re-read before continuing the series. I was thinking of maybe doing it in October, November and December if anyone else is interested.
