i've heard about Ender's Game, but I don't even know what it's really about..lol!

Greta you should read it with us. It is on many top 100 lists of books to read. I don't know much about it but that it is supposed to be really good. I am going to start probably in a couple hours. I have to finish Beautiful Disaster. I should finish fast, I am going to my friend's pool, so it is the perfect time to read.

The brother is crazy! That is the only word I can think of! I don't know how someone can act like that. Thank goodness Ender has his sister. (view spoiler)[ I do worry about his sister when he is gone. It was awful reading about Ender having to defend himself against the bully. He is going to have a rough life in training school. I am worried for him. I can't believe his parents agreed to have him, knowing that he was never really theirs and that they would lose him. I have read books before where third children are illegal, none with this sci-fi twist though. (hide spoiler)]

I was out most of the day yesterday, so I didn't get a lot of reading done. I should be able to catch up today. I hope you aren't finished yet!

I am half way done now. I am enjoying it. (view spoiler)[ It was hard to watch Ender go through the troubles having to prove himself and the guys there giving him such grief. Why does grief follow him everywhere? It was awesome though watching him figure out how to work around his challenges. It kind of like reading a video game. Speaking of video games, I love the video game that he is working through. I like the training that Ender is doing with the other first year kids. He is a thinker and so creative. I feel bad though that he has done so well there but is so unhappy. His brother still creeps me out. What the heck is he up to with the articles that him and his sister are writing? It is hard to watch Ender (view spoiler)[ as a commander. He is being such a jerk. Even he doesn't like himself. He is smart and has figured out why he was treated like that and why he is like that to Bean, but it isn't easy to read. So it is one thing for the teachers to keep changing the rules to constantly keep Ender challenged and on his toes but it is another to take away all of this connections. People do need connections to others to thrive. That was why the letter from his sister worked. Keeping him totally isolated from the couple of friends he has is so mean. (hide spoiler)]

75% (view spoiler)[ Ender has just made it to Eros. That was awful what he went through at the Battle School. What the teachers put him through and he excelled no matter what they threw at him. It is just sad that whenever he started feeling comfortable or making connections, he was taken away. I enjoyed watching him lead his team. At first I thought he was being a jerk but he turned out to be an amazing leader. He team was fantastic and I love that they won every time.

As much as I hate what the teachers put Ender through, they were not really wrong in their tactics. If the buggers came, he wouldn't have help of any kind. He would be alone in the decisions he made and he would have to get himself out of trouble. In a real battle, there would be no rest and there would be no rules, so I understand why the teachers did that. It was hard to read though. It will be interesting to see what Eros brings him. 85% (view spoiler)[ Wow! I can't believe that they tricked Ender like that. I am shocked that they were fighting the buggers the whole time! I am not sure why Ender was so upset that he killed all of the Buggers. That was what he was training to do all this time. The Buggers were going to kill people. I understand that he doesn't want to be a killer but when it is a situation of kill or be killed....you kill. I wonder how he would react if he knew what actually happened to Bonzo or the boy at the beginning of the book. He wouldn't be able to handle it. (hide spoiler)]

Finished. I really enjoyed this book. I really felt for Ender the whole way through.

I probably will but usually I don't like the movie when I have read the book. I think it is funny that Harrison Ford is playing Graff.

Chapter 7: (view spoiler)[ I think I like it so far. It'll probably be at least 3 stars. I like that we didn't have to take a super long time for things to get rolling, and the bits of conversation at the beginning of chapters are interesting and keep it suspenseful. I did notice that the boys don't really seem to act their age, and I feel like even if everyone was aged up 5 years it would still be iffy. I get that Ender is supposed to be a genius but the other boys act older too. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10: (view spoiler)[ I either missed it or it wasn't mentioned yet, but what are they hoping to accomplish with Ender? Yeah, he's a super great soldier and they're grooming him for command, but are they just doing all this to stick him on a starship or is it for something else? Also he's commanding a cabin full of 9 year olds and under when Battle School lasts until around 16 and other armies have 16 year olds? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13: (view spoiler)[ Insane how he didn't drop a single game. I suspected that maybe Bonzo ended up dying but I didn't think Stilson died. Crazy how they're keeping that from him and they don't care. It was self defence but I can't believe he was able to kill two boys with his bare hands (and feet?). Chapters 1-4: (view spoiler)[ This is my second time reading this book because I wanted to remind myself of the plot before I watched the movie. I thought the premise was interesting. However, I was shocked that Ender is only 6 years old. Somehow his age does not seem to suit him if he looks like a teen in the movie. I hope this book is enjoyable the second time around. I wonder what points I will find this times that I forgot the first time I read it. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 5-12: (view spoiler)[ I just realized that this book has a lot of racial comments in this book. I don't think that these terms are necessary for the book to be good. I thought the training scenes were repetitive. I liked the subplot about Ender's siblings in Chapter 9. I am enjoying the book. However, the age of the kids are making this seem more of a middle school read than a YA read. The story is getting more engaging. I wonder what will happen in the last few chapters. (hide spoiler)]

Ending Thoughts (Chapters 13-15): (view spoiler)[ This book was great. I wished there was more to the Valentine and Peter subplot. I forgot the twist, so that was interesting. I liked how the story revolved around war and colonization. I also love Bean. I can't wait to read more of his story and the rest of the series. I think I would give this book a 3.5/5.
