And they completely left out Madge :(
It was pretty good but I wish that movies would stay even closer to the book.

That and probably the Harry Potter series.

Great call!
For me they didn't make you hate the game makers as much as they did in the books. All in all is was a pretty good movie relating to the book. It left some key stuff out as most movies do but it wasn't terrible in my opinion. Looking forward to the next two.
Haven't read Lord of the Rings yet, on the third Harry Potter book.

You can see my full thoughts about the movie on my blog: http://dustycrabtree.wordpress.com/20...

I've read Holes. It's been a while, but it was a book I bought after I read it which means that I thought it was good enough to want to read it again. :) What I remember most is that it was well-crafted, perhaps predictable (especially if you've seen the movie), but I loved how it introduced all these random strings of plot and then tied them all up nice and neat at the end.

I disliked the extra emphasis on the romance and the camera work was really annoying. Katniss was also too pale and too clean compared to my expectations. Hope the next is better.

I thought they actually did a pretty god job sticking to the plot. Of course there were little things here and there that i didn't like, but that happens with every book-movie.
It's actually very different from what I had imagined it to be (especially the capitol), but in a good way. I think there was bit too much focus on the romance for my taste. I know it was part of the story, but that just isnt what interests me.
I think the writing was AMAZING, but the plot could've been better. And I think the movie did a pretty bad job, honestly. Lol
I really disliked the movie. The casting was "meh." I mean- none of them looked malnurished or dirty and that is how they are discribed in the book. How hard is it to find a stinkin' yellow cat?! And why did they change where Katniss got the pin from? Doesn't she bond with Madge over her aunt being in the games? Isn't that why she is at the mayor's house in another book and overhears a conversation she shouldn't? Maybe I am forgetting something, but I feel like Madge was a pretty important person in another book. Also PEETA LOST HIS FREAKING LEG! How are they going to fit that into the next movie? I did not enjoy seeing things from the game maker's POV- I do not want someone to try to convince me that he is a good guy and was trying to help Katniss and Peeta- UM NO HE IS A CREEP. I would have much preferred only having Katniss' POV like in the book. I also have heard from people that didn't read the book that they wish more things were explained in the movie: why was it bad that Gale and Katniss were in the forrest? Why couldn't Katniss sell the squirrel/bird/whatever she shot? Why was Gale's name in the bowl so many times? Why was Katniss' mother so harsh and why did Katniss seem to not like her? Tons of tiny wholes in the plot. I am not even looking forward to the other movies. /rant

I not think Peeta lost leg in this movie, don't think they include this from the books. I know, not much explained in the movie! Was bad, I only knew because I read books first. I always read books first and then see movie. But without books, movie not explained enough.
Maybe they better in Catching fire movie?!

To be completely honest, I don't even want to see Catchnig Fire or Mockingjay!! I feel like they are just going to get worse and worse!

I don't think I will pay to see the other movies, maybe I will watch them when they come out on DVD. I'm just saying, I'm not holding my breath thinking they are going to get better...

Yeah but if I get it from Redbox it's only $1! :)

Lots of my friends do, but I not. I want give money for creator. It not fair to steal the work.

Other than that, I thought the movie was absolutely amazing! Jen wasn't exactly like how I pictured Katniss while reading the books, but she is a fantastic actor, and I thought that she portrayed the character excellently. The storyline was kept almost identical to the book (with some exceptions, of course, but no movie can be exactly like the book without being 10 hours long). They also did a great job of portraying the people in the Capitol in contrast with the people of District 12. Overall, I enjoyed the movie very much, and I'm super excited to see the Catching Fire movie! I can already tell from the trailer that it will be amazing, as well.

Avox girl was in movie too! See long red hair girl at house in capital who brings drink!!

Sure you can ask actors to starve themselve. That's why they get paid millions of dollars. If they won't/cant they should find someone else to fit the part. But Jennifer Lawrence looks fine the way she is.
Amelia wrote: "Nah Jen is not overweight, she's still chubby though. As you said, for a normal chick, she's totally right. Just not for Katniss, and she's portraying Katniss so - er - she doesn't really fit the r..."
I agree- tons of actors/actresses diet for roles. For instance, Hugh Jackman lost huge amounts of weight for his role in Les Miserables, because that is the character he agreed to play: a starved, beaten, prisoner.

Although the Avox girl isn't named, she is in the movie itself. Of course it would have had more impact if they showed the whole story, but then again, it's not really that importan..."
Yes, I said the Avox girl wasn't a crucial part of the story. It was just something I personally wished they had put in the movie in more detail.
I don't see any problem with them choosing to let Peeta keep his leg, or of casting actors that are healthy and will send a good message. Yes, actors do add and drop their weight for roles sometimes - but /should/ they? It's very bad for their bodies and for their health. And I think you guys are picturing an actor for Katniss who is skinny in a supermodel way. Well, that is not how it is for people who are starving. It would be very bad, unhealthy, and unattractive. I would hope that you wouldn't want actors to make themselves that way for a role.

Well, putting ..."
That's my point. You can NOT lose (or gain) a drastic amount of weight in a very short time HEALTHILY. Actors who do that undergo extremely strict, stressful, and incredibly unhealthy diets and even starvation. It is not easy for them. It IS a problem for them. Actors do not have some magical bodies that can go to whatever weight they want. Their bodies aren't any different from ours.
It's not like they do it overnight. They dont just get the role and start filming. They have time to prepare for it.

And this is why she is a fantastic role model.

They have nutritionists and dietitians and personal trainers that help them loose the weight they need to lose (or gain) for different roles. It is monitered by more than one person. A "normal" person imply can't afford to invest that kind of time/money/energy into lookng a certain way for a role. Looking a certain way for a part is a part of their JOB- if they don't do it, they can get fired.

Like in the movie I realized they left out Madge :'(

(I know that there's another thread for just Catching Fire but this is comparing)
