Justin (justinbienvenue) | 460 comments I thought I'd share some easy writing tips that everyone can do. While I'm no expert I have found these ideas to be very beneficial and work well.

-Have An Idea
Know what you want to write about. A general idea will lead to further ones while writing
-Set a Word Count
Setting a good word count means you write just enough but also don't overdue it.
-Take a Break
If you just wrote a lot or have writers block take a break. There's nothing wrong with taking time to gather your thoughts until your prepared
-Read Over While Writing
Go over your sentences a few times after you've written them. This way you can make certain corrections now rather then later.
-Be Creative
Everyone likes originality so if you have a idea thats been done already, give it a twist of your own and makes it yours.
-Make Changes If Needed
If your unsure about something you've written don't be afraid to change it, if your not happy with it then its not ready for your readers.
-Give Characters Purpose
No one likes a dry character, make your main character interesting and relatable.
-Save Your Work!!
This may seem like a no brainer but some of us have computers that crash before we have time to save them, so its good to save after every paragraph.

Jenelle Excellent tips.

I would add:

-Cut out anything that doesn't further the plot
If you find yourself writing a scene that just doesn't help the plot move forward in any way, you might be writing just to put words on a page

-Read!
Don't neglect reading for fun as you write. There is no better spark for a writer than "hanging out with" other writers.
