Steph Ann | 509 comments Hi, everyone! I'm so happy I was able to join this round! I played in round 2 and really enjoyed it, but was too busy to join round 3. I'm very excited to get started! I'm also awful with team names, lol, but I'll see if I can think of anything. I would prefer not to be captain, as I'm already captain on a different challenge. I'm also in the midst of planning my December wedding, so that's taking up a lot of my time as well. :)

I'm going to send friend requests to everyone!

message 6: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Hello team Denver! Are we changing the name? I'll throw a few out there- if Paris would like to lead the team that's great with me:)

message 7: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Steph Ann. That is definitely a lot to take on.

Stacey, I'd be okay with changing the name. What do you have in mind?

message 8: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments So the last few times I've played I created a spreadsheet of the words and bonus words and then everyone entered the books that they had that covered those so that we all kinda knew what people had. It was a way to not have to really struggle to find something to read and also in case someone isn't able to check in we can consult the list and say "oh well Paris has a book listed that fits these letters for this word with bonus". It was also a list of books to help fellow teammates in case they didn't have a book that worked. Would you ladies like me to set up the spreadsheet this round?

If so, it'll be a private spreadsheet so I'll just need your email address so I can send it to you. Just PM me with those if you want to do it. Otherwise I can make it public if you want.

message 9: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments I think the spreadsheet sounds like a great idea, Paris! I'll PM you my email address. :)

message 10: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments ************Test post, this is around the time I'll call the word on Fridays****************

message 11: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Thanks Jenne.

Ladies I'll work on the spreadsheet when I get home. Sadly work doesn't have the most up to date browsers so google docs does not like to work with it.

message 12: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments Google docs doesn't like to work on my work computer either, Paris. :)

In looking through my books, I'm so far finding it very hard to find pancake and barn, as far as bonus words go. Hopefully I start having better luck!

message 13: by Paris (last edited Jul 16, 2013 11:37AM) (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments I just read a really awesome book with pancakes in it. It's The Mourning After (The Mourning After, #1) by Adriane Leigh .

I haven't started going through my books yet, but I should.

message 14: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments That book sounds really good, Paris!

I've been using my breaks at work to go through my TBR list to see what I have that'll fit for each word.

message 15: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Steph Ann, I absolutely loved it. I think I read it in something like 4 hours. I couldn't put it down. In fact I forgot to eat dinner because I didn't want to stop reading.

using my breaks is a good idea. Thanks!

You're welcome! :)

I love it when books are so good, you read them in one sitting!

message 17: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Hi everyone! I am excited to be here. I am camping next week (Monday through Thursday) and won't have internet access -- just to let you know. :)

Thanks Paris!

message 18: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Hi Regina!

So looks like we've all checked in and I'll be captain. Do we want to come up with a reading or book centric team name like Team Boston did? They named themselves Digging 4 Books.

message 19: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am open to anything. :)

message 20: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments I'm up for anything as far as the team name goes. The only thing I've been able to think of so far is Mile High Readers since Denver is known as the mile high city.

message 21: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Steph Ann, I had the same thought. I was thinking Mile High Book Club or something with Mile High in it.

message 22: by Paris (last edited Jul 16, 2013 08:47PM) (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments So ladies, I finished the spreadsheet, but I've only got Steph Anne's email address. Did you just want me to make it public instead Stacey and Regina or do you want to PM me your email addys so I can share it with you? Steph Ann I sent you the link to the spreadsheet. let me know if you have any questions.

To explain how the spreadsheet is set up, we each have our own tab and then there is an extras tab. The extras tab is basically for books you want to share with the rest of the team that work. For example: I've already read The Mourning After by Adrianne Leigh, but I want to let you guys know that it fits both the WoW words of Baby and Home and it has in it the bonus words of pancake, hotel, attorney and chicken. That way if one of those combinations gets called and someone needs something to read they can go to the extras list and see if there is something there.

message 23: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments So first word will be called this Friday. I have changed my first post to be our master list to keep track of the weeks, words called and all that. All books must be at least 100 pages long. I always forget that so I had to make sure I posted it somewhere on this first page of posts. lol

message 24: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments The spreadsheet looks great, Paris! I should be able to start adding my books to it today at some point. :)

I'm ready for Friday!

message 25: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Just sent you my email. :)

message 26: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) What time zone is everyone in? I am central.

message 27: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments I am in the central time zone as well, Regina. :)

message 28: by Paris (last edited Jul 17, 2013 11:07AM) (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments I'm in the pacific time zone. So it'll be really early for me, but I'll try to get up early so I can post the word and pick the letter.

ETA: just checked what time Jenne posted the test post and it was at 5:30 my time. Yikes. lol but I can always go back to sleep for another hour or so.

message 29: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments Is everybody ready for tomorrow? I'm very excited. :)

message 30: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments I'm excited and I'm almost ready to start. I did a lot of searching last night. But I'm no where near done. I want to have at least one book for each letter and bonus word combination available before we start so I don't have to do any searching Friday mornings. I'll barely be coherent enough to post here, let alone look at books. lol

message 31: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments lol, 5:30am would be a bit early to try to look at books and figure out what would work.

message 32: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am not ready in terms of finding a book, but I know I will be able to find a book as I have way too many, lol.

message 33: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Have we decided on a team name at all? We have Mile High Readers and Mile High Book Club as options at the moment. Any other suggestions?

message 34: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments I'm good with either option. :)

message 35: by Paris (last edited Jul 29, 2013 02:55PM) (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Alright ladies here we are...

T: Regina - In Cold Blood by Truman Capote - WotW Bonus: Y - Bonus Word:Y - Post 104

message 36: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments I can do letters S or E and I don't really have a preference which one I do. I'm headed back to bed, but I'll check back in with y'all in a couple hours when I get up for work.

message 37: by Steph Ann (last edited Jul 19, 2013 06:18AM) (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments It looks like I can do E, S, or T. I would prefer the S since that particular book is due back at the library next week, but I don't mind taking either of the other letters if need be.

Also, I saw someone mentioned in the Discussion thread Rocky Mountain High as a possibility for our name. I thought I would mention it here as an option. :)

message 38: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Ill check and post soon. :)

message 39: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I can do al letters.

message 40: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Thanks Steph Ann, I was going to post that and then fell back to sleep instead.

I just messaged Stacey to let her know the game has started. Do you want to just assign letters without her and give her whatever's left or do y'all want to wait fo her?

message 41: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments No problem, Paris! I don't blame you for falling back to sleep! I'm up at 5 every day during the week, and my brain doesn't usually really start functioning til around 8. :)

We could go ahead and assign letters, and if Stacey has a problem finding something for her letter, I don't mind switching. I'm also fine waiting, so whatever everyone else wants to do is fine with me!

message 42: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Agreed, I can switch as well too.

message 43: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Okay, then Steph Ann, go ahead and take S, I'll take E and Regina do you prefer N or T?

message 44: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) T. :)

message 45: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments OKey dokey. Stacey just responded to my message so she should be here soon. If she can't do N, then we can work something else out. I'm gonna be gone for the next couple of hours, gotta go to work and have a meeting, but then I'll be back.

She also had another name possibility for the team, Page Sizzlin Sisters. So the name options so far are:

Mile High Readers
Mile High Book Club
Page Sizzlin Sisters
Rocky Mountain ______ (fill in the blank)

(The song Rocky Mountain High always makes me think of the movie Final Destination)

message 46: by Regina (last edited Jul 26, 2013 07:27PM) (new)

Regina (reginar) I will be reading for the letter T:

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

Page 357 …that, a piece of sky. The wall is made of rough stone; pigeons nest

Page 64 ... newspaper recipes, and snapshots of her baby nephew and of S…

message 47: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Hi ladies- I'm sorry I had no idea this thread was up and running. I kept looking for something from Jenne. And I kept checking too- darn! Got it now. I was going to do E but looks like it's taken?
If "Than' can be used in More Than You Know, then I can do 'T'. Let me know.
Mile High anything is fine.
Or something Denver Bronco related-
Bucking Bronco Bookbusters;)

message 48: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Or Bucking Brocette Bookbusters
Or something different-
Page Sizzlin' Sisters (summer theme;))

message 49: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments More than you know would count for M Stacy. Unless the authors first, middle or last name starts with a T. Or the first letter of the series name excluding the, and, a, an.

message 50: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Stacey I might be able to change letters give me some time this afternoon to see if I can find something that fits N.
