R4: Team ~ Page Sizzling Sisters ~ Denver

I would really like G if that works for everyone else. Yet another library book that's due soon. :)

Glad you got another book Regina for this week. I'll move my stuff around when you get your review posted.

So I officially have a book for every word/letter/bonus word combination that could possibly be called. Next Friday due to my time constraints I'm going to post the word and then pick my letter right away. I hope y'all don't mind that I won't be able to wait to make sure you're okay with it, but since I have to read and post my review before the end of the day and I won't have much time in the morning before leaving it has to work that way.
But then on the 6th, you three pick your letters and then I'll take whatever's left. I won't get a chance to check on that until the 7th when I'm back in the airport waiting for my flight home.
And Steph Ann, I'm double checking with Jenne, but I'm pretty sure that as long as everyone posts their reviews in time, I can post for points when I get back. That way you don't have to worry about it while I'm gone.

That is so true. And it's only sort of a vacation on top of that. it's a work trip and part of the time I'm on my own, the rest I'm doing work stuff. So it'll be nice, but I'm sure there will be added stress while on the trip too.
I'm usually up late so I'm sure I'll still be around when you post your review. If not, I'll update and post for points tomorrow. Thanks for the update and I hope that your day isn't too stressful.

Into the Hollow by Karina Halle

Review: this is one of my favorite series and I was excited to reread it! But I have to admit it wasn't as fun the second time through. The sexual tension seemed too drawn out and I was frustrated with Perry. I still love the series but likely won't be re-reading them.
Pork: p. 211 "the lingering smells of fried pork and eggs ...."
Barn: p. 164 "Path leading from the cabin to the woodshed and toward a small all l barn."

I have the first four books in that series and I keep meaning to start the series (as I do with like ten thousand other books/series). Good to know it's a good series.

Thanks for waiting up!

Thanks for going through and reading a second book so we could get the points. I am off to bed now even though it's not that late here. I am a sleepy girl.

Thanks for checking on all that, Paris! I hope you have a great trip!
My book this week is going much better than last week's choice! I should have it done tomorrow morning at the latest.

I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as the first in the series, but it's a still a very solid, enjoyable read. Roxanne St. Claire has a way of making me think I know what's going on, and then totally proving me wrong by the time I get to the end. That's a trait I very much appreciate in a suspense novel! I really liked Devyn and Mark as main characters, but I really wish I could have seen more of the whole Rossi family. The book also started off a little slow, but did pick up and become hard to put down. I'm very much looking forward to reading Vivi's book, as she's probably one of my favorite side characters.

Review: This was my favorit book so far in the challenge. I loved how the author incorporated all our senses into her scenes. Rather than just telling a story, I really felt we were able to experience the story from within the pages. I am happy I will be able to continue the story in the sequel, 'Under The Light'.
Helen describes herself as Light rather than as a ghost. Since her death over one hundred years prior she has had to 'cleave' herself to humans, needing to be in close proximity to them in order to remain out of her cold, muddy grave. She stays attached to her 'hosts' usually until their demise, and then attaches to a new host. In all her Light years she had never before been seen- until she meets James. James is also Light, but had recently inhabited a human body that was alive but 'vacant' in spirit, taking the spirit's place for a time. Helen is fascinated by finding James and subsequently finds her own spiritless body to borrow to experience being human once more.
The story follows Helen and James through their journey; falling in love, assimilating into human form and family, and ultimately finding their own purpose for being and resolving their own inner turmoil to help both human and Light beings move on.

I really, really liked this book. I loved Grace and Noah together. I'm a huge sucker for books where the love interests have a past and the past that Grace and Noah have together is probably one of the greatest ones I've ever read about. Pen pals for the four years that Noah was in the Marines, they had never met, but the bond that they created during that time was made of amazing things. As a lot of returning military personnel experience, Noah wasn’t ready for the real world and he certainly wasn’t ready to swoop Grace off her feet like he believed she deserved.
For two years they don’t speak or write. Grace is barely going through the motions of life, not committing to much at school out of fear of putting herself out there the way she did with Noah and getting her feelings thrown back at her like he did. It isn’t until Noah walks back into her life that she realizes how much she had been coasting through every aspect of her life.
I absolutely adore love stories where the man really takes control…not with the physical, but with the emotional. I love when they say those three little words first, when they pursue the girl and woo her. This book was fantastic in that aspect. And it was also not filled with drama or extended break-ups once they found their way back to each other. There is a HEA in this, the next book in the series features one of my favorite secondary characters, Bo “Peep”. I’m hoping that Grace’s cousin Lana gets her own book somewhere down the line as well. And that we see more of the guys from Woodlands. I will definitely read more by this author.

I'm a huge Samantha Young fan and she definitely didn't disappoint me with this book. I loved Charley and Jake and their past. took off half a star because while I liked the flashback scenes they kind of took me out of the story a little.

MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood

Review:
I am still gathering my thoughts about this book.
Not sure what to say about it. I have been waiting for this book for years. I read the first book in this trilogy maybe 8 years ago: Oryx and Crake and then I listened to the second book in this trilogy a few years back: The Year of the Flood. This is a good story, but I am not sure it is what I was expecting. It is heavy, it is solid and it is complex. And nobody could ever excuse Atwood of romanticizing the apocalypse. I am still gathering my thoughts and will update this review -- just that, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped. But it is really well done.

Review: I bought this book a while back since it showed up as something similar to a series I love by David Rosenfelt. I wasn't expecting much more than a fluffy, quick read that had a litle mixture of comedy and mystery and I was not disappointed.
Francis (Frankie) Chandler is a 'pet psychic' just like her Auntie Gertrude: They both 'read' pets off the body language of their owners, hoping to get to the root of the problems. During a 'read' Frankie is suddenly overwhelmed by a true 'vision' her furry client sends her of a possible murder he, the dog, had witnessed. She is shocked and not too pleased by realizing her 'gift' is more true than fake. After the first episode, Frankie finds she is bombarded by animals' thoughts and emotions and decides the only way to make the communications stop is to solve this case so that the dog, and she, can be at peace.
This story continues as only a pet psychic turned amature murder detective can, leading her into heaps of trouble, both with criminals and law enforcement, in a light, funny manner. And does she help solve the murder and get the animal voices out of her head?? Well, read and find out!
The author obviously has a great sense of humor and wild imagination- and I enjoyed this ridiculous 'tail' of murder, mystery, and 'non-romance'. Very silly...

Review:
Aisling Grey always seems to find herself in trouble, and book 3 is no different. Drake's cousin doesn't approve of her or of Drake's leadership, the red dragons keep attacking her, a demon lord is trying to get her to support him in a regime change, and the imps want her dead because Jim ate the imp king. That's just how crazy Aisling's life is.
I enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as the previous two. Aisling got on my nerves a lot this time around. She tends to react first and then think about things later, and that never fails to make things worse. She still has very little knowledge about the world she's in, but at this point, that's more her fault than anything else because she hasn't read the books people have given her to help her out.
That being said, the book was still fun. Jim and Rene are always amusing, and I liked that we found out more about each of their backgrounds. I'm interested to see what happens next!
