Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Ok ladies I did find an I book that fits but it's just a random pick to fit. It could be good but not one I've planned to read. I haven't purchased it yet so will wait to hear the final decisions before doing so today.

message 152: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) What's the book? Maybe I have it and can share it with you?

message 153: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Into the fire. Suzanne Brockmann

message 154: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 509 comments I have no problem taking the I, Stacey, if you'd rather read the A book you have. My library book will eventually get read. :)

message 155: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have it to share - but have you read the series? If not I would say don't start with that one.

message 156: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Regina- no I haven't read any others- I will hold off then. You can share? How? Something else I can learn!
Steph Ann- if you don't mind I would love A for this week! I have two that fit! Thanks.

message 157: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I'd also LOVE to do A. I just got the arc for Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle and it has both words and it is the Artist's Trilogy

But I understand if it won't work.

message 158: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments Regina- i thought you wa Ted L? I didn't look for L yet but I can take it and find something later to fit as I'm out now. I'll read what I want after I finish.

message 159: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments okay, so then Stacey, do you have an L book maybe?

The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies, #1) by Tarryn Fisher has both words. It's $.99 for Kindle right now and the series is Love Me With Lies

message 160: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I can do either. I only just learned that I had received Shooting Scars from the publisher less than an hour ago. I am flexible.

message 161: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments I don't have one Paris but I will find something. I spent time on As at home and found 2. I will look later. Sure ill get something. Thank you.

message 162: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Well Regina can stick with L if you can't find something so just let her know. Otherwise, Steph Ann are you okay with I?

message 163: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy | 1063 comments I'll take L Paris thanks for the suggestion- it got great ratings. I found one other as well. :)

message 164: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Stacey I've heard great things about the entire Love Me With Lies series. It's on my TBR.

So we got A for Regina and L for Stacey. Thanks ladies!

Review

I love this series so much, which is why I wanted to do a re-read of it before reading the latest book. This is probably one of my favorites, full of a ton of Kate and Curran goodness. Add in the introduction of Grendel, the attack poodle, and you get a wonderful book full of action, romance, and humor.

This book brings Kate even closer to having to reveal who she is, with the appearance of a powerful being who has the ability to spread deadly diseases. There is a ton of action in this installment, and there's never a dull moment. I can't wait for my re-read of the next book!

I read: The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies#1)
by Tarryn Fisher

Read: 8/4/13
Rating: 4.5 stars

Review: I read this book as a suggestion from a fellow Book Challenge group member- thanks Paris!- and loved it! I connected immediately with the author's writing style- sometimes that just 'clicks' with me. Although the protagonist did some pretty unkind things throughout the book, there was plenty of humor and a humanistic quality which made her very likeable to me.

Olivia, who has lost both her parents, is admittedly self-centered and self-protective, which makes it impossible for her to trust and openly love- or allow herself to be loved. That being said the entire premise of the book is how she fell in 'love' with Caleb Drake early in college and all the things she does and the lies she tells (over a decade) to try to keep him, ultimately pushing him away repeatedly once she gets him back. She is not the horrible person she proclaims herself to be- but she does have issues with being happy. She is a fighter. She is a survivor. And, after years of making the same mistakes and expecting different results, she finally decides to change herself. Without giving away the ending, I will say I was happy with her decision.
Although for me there were a coupld of rather large bloopers overlooked, I enjoyed the book enough to forgive them completely. I will be reading more form Ms.Fisher.

Bonus word: Chicken- 'I can think of things to say to piss him off but I am too chicken to carry them out... pg 160

Frigid (Frigid, #1) by J. Lynn by J. Lynn
Finished: 8/2/13
Rated: 5 Stars

I cannot get enough of the new adult romances. I am a freaking sucker for this type of book. And J. Lynn sure does know how to do them right. This is the second new adult book that I have read by her this year and I’ve absolutely loved them both. This was such a beautifully written friends to lovers romance. I felt every emotion. My heart broke for Sydney and at times I felt her pain. But then when the good times were rolling, I was on that high with her.

Kyler was a fantastic leading man. I loved him with Sydney, even when he said or did something that wasn’t right. Their friendship was amazing, but there something more was even better. There was an awesome amount of humor in this book too, even with the angst of a possible romance and the suspense of the stalker. I will definitely add this book to my reread list and J. Lynn/Jennifer L. Armentrout is definitely on my must read list.

Sorry things are rough at home Regina. I hope things get better. Do you have a preference on what letter you have C, M or P?

I would prefer C I guess.

I'm hoping that I'll find something better than the books i have listed. Just not in the mood for those right now. lol

Shooting Scars by Karina Halle The Artist's Trilogy #2
Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle
Read: 8/8/13
Rating: 3.5 stars

Review:
I wanted this book so bad and feel lucky to have gotten the ARC. Shooting Scars, is the sequel to Sins & Needles and is is much more faced paced than the first in the Artist's Trilogy. Despite being faced paced, it was slower to start. I had issues with the morality in this book -- or perhaps lack of. I love the characters, their flaws and how dark Halle is willing to push her stories. But the humanizing of murders is hard for me to swallow. Still, it is a good book with interesting characters and I am looking forward to the third in this series.

I read 'Priceless' by Shannon Mayer
Finished: 8/11/13
Rated: 4 Stars

This was a fun read for me, filled with a strong female lead character and some cool and 'unusual' supernatural creatures. I really love changing up genres- keeps things interesting!

Rylee Adamson is a Tracker, meaning she can find humans, either dead or alive, as long as she has a picture of them and their name. Unfortunately, her abilities were triggered because of (and therefore after) the loss of her little sister who was snatched by supernaturals while under her watch. The FBI attempted to pin the kidnapping and probable murder on Rylee and has been trailing her ever since (10 years) to find evidence of her involvement. They also continue to watch her because her role as a Tracker has lead her to find other children who have been 'snatched' and return them- they think she may have a hand in their kidnapping and then receives money for returning them as well. She always finds the kids, although not always alive- but this still allows for closure.
Rylee's sister is the only child she has not been able to find. She became estranged from her parents after the loss. Her life is driven by guilt and determination over this one event and her world is filled with mostly supernatural creatures , both friends and foes, including a pet werewolf . The only consistent human contact she has is with agent O'Shea from the FBI, who was the agent on the case of her sister's disappearance. He continues to follow her to generally give her grief and get in her way.
A decade after losing her sister at the park, the child she has been hired to recover (also snatched by supernaturals and taken to the other side of the 'veil') bears uncanny similarities to her own sister's kidnapping which makes this case very different for Rylee, dangerously tapping into her emotions and making her vulnerable- this case will change her life in many ways.
I enjoyed the author's writing style- again a 'click' for me. I also enjoyed it's ecclectic characters and suspenseful story line, as well as the relationship struggle between and within the characters. Ms Mayer was able to keep the Supernatural genre fresh and interesting.

WotW: Camp: ...avoid the pack that was probably setting up camp at my house... pg 112

Review

I enjoyed this book much more than the previous book in the series. It's been awhile since there's been a book from Elena's point of view, so it was a very nice change of pace.

While this book doesn't touch on the overarching storyline in the series, it is still very entertaining and fast paced. I can't recall a single moment where it felt like the story was lagging. It's nice to see how far Elena has come since the first book in the series. I wish there was another book from Elena's perspective coming up next, but with that being said, I am curious to see what a story from Savannah's point of view is like.

The Hero (Thunder Point, #3) by Robyn Carr

Review:
This book was just okay. But just okay is worlds better than the second book in this series -- which was very disappointing. This series seems to be a recylcing of issues and storylines from Virgin River. I am okay with that because I love the Virgin River series, they are a comfort read and I am getting these books free from netgalley. :) But if a reader was hoping for something new or hadn't yet read Robyn Carr, I would discourage them from reading this series and point them in the diretion of Carr's back list. Sweet love lines, beautiful settings, simplistic pleasures and a little bit of suspense - those are what a reader can expect from Hero.
