Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments So far I have Bs with both bonuses. Still looking.

message 202: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) I have found an Y book but I don't excatly wish to read it unless no one else finds Y book.

message 203: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Ok. I found some Y books. Gea will you PM me your Y book so I can see if I like that better than either of the Y books I found? I'll take one for the team and read Y unless Denise prefers it.

Denise (destiny_chan) | 7439 comments Mod
I've found books for all letters, including a Y book I actually want to read, so if you're not too keen on any of the ones you have, I'll take that. :)

message 205: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments I actually found a Y book too that I've started and is good. I can either do that one or B. I will probably be reading both of them regardless, so just let me know

message 206: by Denise, Manufacturing Director (new)

Denise (destiny_chan) | 7439 comments Mod
If you've already started stick with the Y. The books I have for A and B are ones I was planning to read next week anyway, so that works fine for me. :)

Gea, do you prefer A or B?

message 207: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) Then I would prefer B :)

REVIEW: This is the second book in The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club series. Edna Yoker Miller and her second husband Lamar teach quilting to a few students,
every so often. Each of her classes she feels have needed something from her more than the quilting they came for. The people inthe groups are alwasy very different. Cheryl came to get her grandmother's wall hanging repaired, Carmer is a journalist and and her boss wants an expose on the Amish children's running around years. blaine was tricked into taking the class, his fish was smaller. Selma was given the class
to keeper her out of her neighbors hair. Anna's mom signed her up hopign she would remain Amish. Emma and Lamar have their work cut out for them, teaching their reluctant students and helping them through their own individual problems.

Gea (gea89) Week 7: BABY
Letter: B
Whispers in the Dark (KGI, #4) by Maya Banks
Book: Whispers in the Dark by Maya Banks
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I have waited to read this book for a while and always dreaded that I won't like it as much as the rest of the series because of the paranormal factor. The book was surprisingly good and very easy to read once I got past the first few chapters. I didn't mind the paranormal stuff it just added another twist to the series. I know I'll be reading the next book from series very soon, can't wait to see what happens to Grace.

WoW (baby): The baby . (location 727)
Bonus word (hotel): Her idea of camping was a nice hotel with room service and a spa. (location 758)

Week 7: Baby
My Letter: A

Darkborn (Darkborn Trilogy, #1) by Alison Sinclair Darkborn by Alison Sinclair
Finished: 04 September 2013
Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
Alison Sinclair has created a fascinating world here that I have completely fallen in love with. An intriguing and imaginative story filled with intrigue, magic and interesting, likable characters - one of those few books that compelled me to immediately go buy the sequels before I was even halfway through book one of the series. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of this trilogy has in store!

Bonus Items:
Baby: "Within the crib, a baby twitched in izs blankets" (p. 13)
Hotel: "entrance to hotel accommodation" (p. 309)

Yes, Chef A Memoir by Marcus Samuelsson
Yes, Chef: A Memoir by Marcus Samuelsson

Rating: ★★★★

Review:
I really enjoyed learning more about Marcus Samuelsson as a person and getting insight into his background. He was born in Ethiopia and adopted by Swedes when his parents died. He traveled all over, driven, taking internships in restaurants, while battling race issues. His entire journey has flavored his style of cooking.

Bonus Items:
Baby: p 9 "We want to have a baby but we can't"
Hotel: p. 68 "It fed all of the Park Avenue Hotel

message 216: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) I have books for all letters but I would prefer letter Q or U if possible

message 217: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Right now, I only have U but I am looking.

message 218: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments One thing I'm noticing as I search for "quit" which on kindle brings up anything that starts with quit is that some authors really like the word "quite" The most I have found quite is 126 times. Does it annoy anyone else when an author uses the same word that many times?

message 219: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) For me it's annoying only if it's really noticeable but I don't usually notice such things

message 220: by Jenn (last edited Sep 06, 2013 08:35AM) (new)

Boundless (Unearthly, #3) by Cynthia Hand
Boundless by Cynthia Hand. Unearthly series

My Rating: ★★★★
My Review: I was sad to see the end of the series, but everything is wrapped up nice and neat. There are a lot of surprises in the plot - including what all the visions have been leading up to, and the real purpose. I'm glad about who Clara ends up with but I'm sad for the other. I grew to like him a lot.

Word of the Week: p 333 "He quit the manager informs me."
Bonus Word: p 146 "His mom must be making a pie

Wicked Widow by Amanda Quick
Book: Wicked Widow by Amanda Quick
Rating: ★★★
Review:
This book was the usual Amanda Quick story and I felt I knew in advance most of the things that were about to happen. It was decent enough though and I'll read the rest of her books I have on TBR in hopes of finding another great book of hers.

WoW (quit): "You were the only one who had the sense to quit " (page 37)

Week 8: Quit
My Letter: I

A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson
Finished: 13 September 2013
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
A lovely, heartwarming tale set shortly after WWI, A Countess Below Stairs is the story of Anna, a young Russian countess, who takes up employment as a maid in a noble house in England after her family has lost its fortune. With just the right amount of romance and some of that same kind of charm that made Frances Hodgson Burnett's A Little Princess such a delight to read, this was a highly enjoyable book.

Bonus Items:
Quit: "studded about in impossible Yorkshire hovels which they refused to quit" (p. 90)
Pie: "the fish pie was still the best in England" (p. 225)

This was the first of her books that I've read, but apparently she's written both children's books and quite a few YA books like this one. :)

Aitthor/Title: Kinkade, Thomas A Christmas Ange
Letter: T
Rated 4.5

WOW" Quit: For several years after Mark quit Brown University in RI, he wandered around the country taking odd jobs and remaining completely out of touch iwth his family.
Bonus: Pie: I bought a pie and ice cream from the bakery

REVIEW:

In Cape Light (which the series is named) it is Christmas and the mayor Emily Warwick is jogging along the green and finds a baby in the creche in front of her church. With a note to whoever finds her little Jane, to take care of her. Emily who had to give up her baby she had far too young when her husband died and her mother thought it best, wants just that. She is newly married to Dan who has raised all of his
and wants peiece and quiet.
