Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments I do read text on my computer, but i dont hae a reader, first I am blinde, would be hard to use it and I am on disability which doesnt' go far.

Off to the library tomorrow, found a few mere, and of all things, my boyfriend had a Spencer book with both words but it is a western, I hope i find something

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments You are so lucky this month, I have 28 books out of the library and nothing, I did find a Janet Evanovitch in my personal library that will work. I am probably doign J if I can fidn the book I want. I dont like Evanovitch.

message 104: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) I have finished a book yesterday that counts as A it was a BOM in another group so I would have read it anyway. I can still read another book later this week if sommeone prefers an A book as mentioned before I have plenty of books for both J and L and I like all of them

Letter: A
The Bridal Veil by Alexis Harrington
Book: The Bridal Veil by Alexis Harrington
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
This is the second book from Alexis Harrington that I've read for this challenge and much better than the first one. I like mail order bride theme in the books and this one was one of the best ones I've read so far.

WoW (jail): he grew up in a shack down by the river and his old man had died in jail (page 110)
Bonus word (chicken): "And be sure to close the coop gate behind you so the other chickens don’t get out.” (page 51)
Total Points: 3

Letter: I
Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
Rating ★★★

Review: All I can say is Wow. This author has some serious, serious issues. I should know that by now I guess, since I've read several of his books. But I guess Palahniuk still can surprise me. There were several things that I was blindsided by. I didn't like any of the characters on a personal level. They were all terrible people. But as character studies they were definitely interesting. Weird Weird book. One of the weirdest I've read in a long time.

JAIL: p. 117 "When they go to jail, Gwen tells herself in the monitor...."

Chicken: p. 91 "My mother passes me the quilted chicken with the rolls still warm inside."

REVIEW:

This is only the 10th book in the Parker series of over 40 books published int he 80's, Parker has since died but others are writing his books. He is hired to protect a lesbian author who is a feminist activist. She has had some threats. She isn't thrilled about a testosterone-laden private eye or his girlfriend Susan Silverman, but what can she do. He covers her a number of days before she is kidnapped from her hotel room, and Spencer has already been fired, but he takes it personally . Spencer has an idea who took her, but nothing to go on. A snowstorm paralyzes Boston and Spenser has to go on foot if he wants to get to Rachel Wallace before they kill her.

Every Dead Thing (Charlie Parker, #1) by John Connolly Every Dead Thing by John Connolly
Finished: 08 August 2013
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
A gripping thriller just the way I like them: dark, gritty, violent and featuring characters that aren't just black and white, but many different shades of grey. Impossible to put down once you get maybe 50 pages in.

Bonus Items:
Jail: "Vinnie ends up back in jail" (p. 85)
Chicken: "where I'd eaten tasteless chicken" (p. 44)

message 126: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Lindy wrote: "YOu must all have a large library? I will take P"

Got you down for P.

I have a lot of free books on my Kindle from Amazon when they're free.

I also can go to my libraries website and borrow Kindle books from the library.

And the library is 3 minutes from my work if I want a physical book.

I just go through my "To Read" list on Goodreads, and if a book might fit, I go to Amazon.com and look up the book and look inside and see if it has the words. I usually do that before I get the books out.

That's what works best for me.

message 127: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Denise, do you have a preference? If you are ok with taking A, I will read whichever letter Gea decides she doesn't want.

A is fine with me!

message 129: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Gea, do you have a preference? If not, I'm 28% through a C book, but could still do the M.

message 130: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments I dont' have any kind of reader, so 90% of my books are library, I have a few old TBR books here still

message 131: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 256 comments Lindy how do you find out if your book has the bonus words

message 132: by Gea (new)

Gea (gea89) Jennifer, I'm okay with either book so I'll take M :)

message 133: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Lindy I just noticed your book from view week had inter-view which wouldn't of worked since interview isn't a hyphenated word typically. But I checked on Amazon and it did have: Page 243 You humans just happen to be on this side of the portal, so you view… so your ok the points still work. But just be careful in the future. I know you're blind and it is harder for you. Please feel free to ask for help or if you have any questions I'm always around for the most part.

message 134: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments If i knew somethign wan't right, I woudl ask, obviously I didnt', never saw the rule about hypenated words either.

message 135: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I usually have no problem with hyphenated words. But that was interview not view, no problem though cause you did have "view" in that book.

Heir to a Dark Inheritance by Maisey Yates
Book: Heir to a Dark Inheritance by Maisey Yates
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I was pleasantly surprised by this book, it was much better than usual HP books I read. It was a bit emotional at the beginning when the court took the baby from Jada after she mothered her for a year but they got an arrangement sorted out pretty quickly. A nice, quick read one HP book less on my TBR.

WoW (camp): He’d dogged his way across enemy lines, into an enemy camp, to save the life of a friend. (page 25)
Bonus word (pancake): And it wouldn’t sit and have pancakes with you in the morning. (page 89)
Total Points: 6

Carrot Cake Murder (Hannah Swensen, #10) by Joanne Fluke
Book: Carrot Cake Murder by Joanne Fluke
Rating: ★★★
Review These stories are beginning to grow on me. I had trouble getting into the first one I read, but now they're a nice, easy read. They're a little stuffy...kind of like The Cat Who mysteries. Kind of proper, not a lot of steam...also strange relationship with her cat. Still a good mystery, and some interesting recipes are included.

WOW p. 260 "I must be remembering it wrong, he was too old for camp
Bonus word p. 270 "You just had a big pancake breakfast!

My Letter: A

Rainbow Road (Rainbow Trilogy, #3) by Alex Sanchez Rainbow Road by Alex Sanchez
Finished: 13 August 2013
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
The conclusion of this coming-of-age trilogy about three gay boys that began with Rainbow Boys and continued in Rainbow High sees Nelson, Kyle and Jason embark on a road trip across the continent - with plenty of various kinds of dramas that put their friend-/relationships to the test. I have to admit the teenage drama was occasionally a bit over the top - because really, how much important-/relevant-issue-related drama can three people experience on a two week trip? Nevertheless, it was a fun read that left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end - and that's what's important, right?

Bonus Items:
Camp: "Weren't you going to camp anyway?" (p. 7)
Pancake: "Breakfast consisted of yogurt, raisins, pomegranate juice, and applesauce pancakes" (p. 79)

Lindy (lindylee) | 375 comments Week 4
Author/Title: Chbosky, Stephen The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Letter: P
Rated: 3.5
Wow: Camp: After the training camp, his coach said that he was second string and that when he starts learning the system, he will be first string.
Bonus: Pancakes: it was about seven o'clock in the morning and everyone went to the Big Boy for pancakes or bacon.

REVIEW:
This funny, touching, memorable first novel from Stephen Chbosky is the resounding accuracy with which the author captures the voice of a boy teetering on the
brink of adulthood. Shy and introspective, intelligent Charlie is trying to learn to participate in life. We find out about him from the letters he writes to and undiclosed person. He has the same problem many kids have, how to win friends and influence people. On top of that his best friend has committed suicide. He befriends a group of interesting older kids who introduce him to partying. For a young adult novel there is a lot of adult material includeing abortion,
Men have anonymous sex with each other, drungs and alcohol and sexual abuse. Although the subject matter is teens, it should have been an adult novel.
