Tima | 2 comments A long time a I read this young adult novel but I cannot remember the name. The book was about a young girl who lived in a town, the people in the town thought she was very ugly and attractive. The was a wealthy man who was known for being very cruel, he kept what the villagers thought was a beast in his home locked up in the attic. He wanted a young girl from the village to marry that beast so he could have an heir. At one time the old man had a daughter whom he loved dearly but she died. The villagers forced the ugly heroine of this story to marry the beast in the wealthy man's home.
She married the "beast creature" and she lived in the house. She stalled to keep from consummating the married. However when she did go into the beast's room, she discovered that he was merely the grandson of the wealthy man. The wealthy man's now deceased daughter, fell in love with a man who was from what was considered a savage tribe outside of town. And the daughter died giving birth to her soon because her father refused to help with her delivery. The heroine did become pregnant by the grandson and she helped him escape from the wealthy man's house. The grandson returned to his father's people and the heroine became the new owner of the wealthy man's land and money at the end of the book. I can't remember the tile of this book or the author's name. I would like to read this book again, it also had a sequel. Does anybody have a clue which book I'm talking about.
