one of the husbands is an artist and one of them eventually dies
the widow remains very close to the other couple
the other couple has a child
the other couple ends up getting a divorce
the book expands years over her life
written probably after the 1960s
main character dies

a scene was after the husband dies one of the people from the other couple comes into her apartment and they see her standing on the balcony wearing her dead husband's clothes

one of the couple has a great kid and the other couple has a demon kid.
