Emily (Mrs B's Books) I tend to only use NetGalley.. but the amount of books I want seems obscene. Is anyone here actually in their recommended feedback ratio of 80%??? I don't think I have even been. I read one book then request two more ;)

I wonder if they ever actually approve anyone, or if they just put the books on there to make us want them.

message 853: by Tati (new)

Tati if they're not going to let anyone read their ARCs, why post them in the first place?

message 854: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
Just to get us all interested! I bet loads of people see them on netgalley and think 'that looks good', they can probably tell how popular a book is going to be by how many requests they get.

message 855: by Emily (new)

Emily (Mrs B's Books) Some publishers do auto-approve.. I know Aspendawn Books &
Curiosity Quills Press do for sure… Not sure about the others though.

Mine is at 95.9, I think I've read like 20 books in the past week though.

Yeah, some do, we just don't know anyone who ever gets an approval from penguin.

A lot of them do, but it's so hard to get one book from penguin, that i doubt anyone has an auto approval by them, haha.

Emily (Mrs B's Books) If it helps I have four approvals from Penguin Books Australia ?!? They were all last year though.

I got approved for The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty by Penguin UK, only to find out that it was a mistake as they archived it before turning me down!

You must be super popular ☺

message 862: by Emily (new)

Emily (Mrs B's Books) well that completely sucks…
I bought that book myself to go on my already very big to read pile :)

message 864: by Tati (new)

Tati I'll pass this one. I don't love her books, so no reason to bring my netgalley ratio down

message 865: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I am staying far, far away!

message 866: by Tati (new)

Tati because you have too many ARCs or because you don't like her books?

message 867: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I don't like them.

message 868: by Tati (new)

Tati Finally made it to 40% on NetGalley!

message 869: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
Yay! I've come to the realisation that I still need to read 4 more books to have less review copies than I started the challenge with. Ridiculous!

message 870: by Tati (new)

Tati Thankfully, not many books have caught my eye there lately

message 871: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I've been trying not to request more, but then got aproved for one this morning that I requested more than a month ago! And it doesn't have a kindle option ☹

message 872: by Tati (new)

Tati I only have 4 requests pending, which is almost a miracle LOL

Which one was it?

message 873: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis
I really didn't expect to get it as it had been pending for so long.

message 874: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I still have 3 pending, but I don't expect to get them, they're ones I requested in february and march. although I requested otherbound in march!

message 875: by Tati (new)

Tati I almost went for that one, but it didn't have me entirely convinced.

message 876: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
Oh well, you're saved from reading another book with no kindle option now!

message 877: by Emily (new)

Emily (Mrs B's Books) I've got six pending :(
After a long slog I have finally got myself to 67.8% on NetGalley… still got far too many to go, and that's without my own reading list which seems to be getting forgotten again.

Are you going for new authors? I'm trying VERY hard to stay only to authors and series i'm currently reading.

message 878: by cindy ♡ (new)

cindy ♡ i really need to read some books that i need to review :3 They have been on my kindle for the longest time

message 879: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I go for anything that I think looks good! I'm trying not to request anything else at the moment, but I'm still getting the odd one come through.

message 880: by Emily (new)

Emily (Mrs B's Books) I think I have about 90 books all in all to review.. the pile never seems to go down...

message 881: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I was up to 60, but I got approved for so many recently that I've read 42, and I've still got 62 to go! I started the ARC challenge to try and get my review pile down, but it's still higher than it was when I started!

I really wish they would all note when they don't have kindle options. I have seen some do that but not nearly enough.

message 883: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
I wish they did that too. It's really frustrating when you get approved for something that you really want to read, only to find out that you can't read it on your kindle!

Legacy (Night School, #2) by C.J. Daugherty US/Can only. https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/sho...

Has this not been released in the states yet? I'm sure I read this last year.

Book two is on netgalley? We read the third about 6 months ago!

I saw it and thought 'is that the fourth one?' (it has a different cover -

But it's the second one!

message 887: by Tati (new)

Tati Maybe they're doing the same thing they did with Storm?

message 888: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90956 comments Mod
Maybe. Maybe it's only available as a hardcover in the US at the moment or something.
I don't know why, but the eyes on the cover remind me of Katy Perry!

message 890: by Trinity (new)

Trinity How can the books I receive from Edelweiss be transferred to my kindle?

message 891: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (manka23) | 2337 comments I've vowed to not go onto netgalley until I get my review pile down. I keep winning books from blog giveaways that I entered forever ago... I have a couple first reads giveaways as well. I think I have at least six books coming to my house. And a whole bunch on my kindle that I have to read and review for netgalley or something else.
I need to catch up...

You have to choose the option to send them to your kindle on edelweiss. When you click the green download button it should say 'you are downloading this book in .... format' and next to that there should be a little blue word 'change'. Click change to change it to sending to your kindle.

you should consider downloading some of the 'read-now' titles (you can download these right away without waiting for approval). It gets your percentage up and shows publishers that you'll read and review books that you receive, making it more likely that publishers will approve you in the future ☺
You can find the 'read now' titles by clicking on 'read now' on the 'find titles' screen.
