I think you're okay because you read the book first. I don't think watching the movie would ruin your book experience although it might certainly disappoint you even more than if you hadn't read the book. The movie has such a different set up anyway. Holly is American to start with and not Irish, so a lot of the story doesn't even take place in Ireland. I ended up remembering them as two different stories. By the way, one of the parts where I cried the loudest, was the part where Holly's brother helps her get rid of Gerry's clothes. They kind of left that part out in the movie since the scene doesn't last long. If I remember right, Holly's brother isn't even there.. I was relieved not to have to go through it again though.. I don't think I would have been able to stop howling this time!

I just watched the trailer of the movie and I must say that it disappointed me! I don't like the idea that they needed to change the details to an extent that the way she finds out about the letters is different too.
I have this usual tendency of forgetting a book within three months of reading the book. Although I will remember the plot, I'll forget the details. I might watch it then as I won't remember the details that extensively.
Haha. I think I cried for almost everything, and I cried the loudest for the last letter that was signed "P.S : I will always love you".

Ugh.. I know! :'(

i totally get it. my boyfriend made me stop reading the book from time to time just to stop me from crying..
isn't it just so sad... that the thing matters him the most before he died is to help her move on with her life... how much love a person needs to do that...

It is one of my favorite books. Sometimes it's my favorite.
It is a book anyone who has lost a husband or a wife, will really get and understand. I wish I had a husband like Gerry who would have left me notes, so it wouldn't have been so hard.
I don't know about anyone else, but the part where Gerry went to get the tickets at the travel agency really brought tears to my eyes. I am sure any woman can understand when she wears light colored dress will understand about spilling something her dress. And there are so many other parts of the book we can all relate to. I give a thumbs up to Cecelia Ahern in writing such a wonderful book.
Would anyone like to see you right a follow up book, in which it's a few years down the road to see how Holly is getting along?
