They had so many, many sins to atone.

But in came Candy Darling and she hung around,
Till in came the whole band The Velvet Underground.
They all start singing to chant their sins away,
Joe and Candy said can't you come another day?
The band said this was one time event,
They'd sing for the superstars their evil to repent,
And all the Warhol family despite their devilment,
would be forgiven because the band was heaven sent.
[[[ Cue loud and sustained applause! ]]
I hope that before mankind reaches the moon
It will be bound into an elegant slim volume.
They went to the moon in 1969,
made a slim volume that was very fine.
Then what was the next thing to do?
They asked if it was slim enough for you.
When you said it was okay,
They tipped their hats and went on their way.
I remember 1969 was the opposite of mean,
You could cross Abbey Road or sing Yellow Submarine,
As Collins, Armstrong, and Aldrin shot for the moon
The boy I loved more than the moon left the room
As it was the end of term, he was off home
In Switzerland; and like Apollo, my heart was flown.
By the time the Eagle landed in the Sea of Tranquility

I moved away from the slough of despond and fear
To the sunny uplands of hope and Christmas cheer.
The Church took the Winter Solstice season,
And told the pagans Christ was the reason,
The Sun starts to stay longer in the sky,
Cause Jesus was a rebirth kind of guy.
And just to make it a bigger mess,
They added Saint Nicolas and called it Christmas.
So mixed up was the story by then,
What heck they added the three wise men.
Since the star didn't shine till Jesus was in the manger,
The magi following the star showing up pronto was even stranger.
But it's a time of mirth so I shouldn't besmirch,
The calendar of feasts established by the church.
